Looking back at the history of the Saturday night raids

I posted my first DDO blog March 28, 2012 and have since then been writing semi-regularly as well as using the blog as documentation and history about my characters and gaming. I have been doing the Saturday night raids since 2012, although I did not do EEraids back then and at first I didn’t even post for them myself. Even though I have run and posted for raids on other nights than Saturday, in this blog I will mostly be focusing on the Saturday raids.

2012
I started running raids back in 2012. At first I was just joining raids when I saw them up, later I decided that I wanted to do a Shroud on Thazara each weekend, and soon I started posting for raids myself, usually on Saturday, sometimes on Sunday. Back in 2012 there were also a lot more people running and posting for raids, so I only hosted them myself about half the time. The dates posted here are the date of the blog, not the date of the run, as I’m no longer sure which day/ date the blog is about. Level cap increased from 20 to 25 in June 2012.

2013
In 2013 I continued doing raids on Saturdays, sometimes Sundays, and most of the time I tried to get as many raids done as possible in a night. Below are the blogs from 2013. July – September I don’t seem to have posted anything about Sat raids, and I believe this is because I wasn’t really posting for any. I was raiding a lot, but I was mostly joining raids posted by Gimpfest, Over Raided and Matrix, as I wanted to get more experience in raiding at higher difficulties. In October I started posting for Sat raids again. In 2013 – 2014 I was also running EE FoT with Avxseven’s group, the first completion in February 2013, but since these are not part of my Sat raids, they are not mentioned here. Level cap increased from 25 to 28 in August 2013.

Thazara’s solo heal Shroud January 2013

In 2014 I was doing Saturday raid marathons with Osiride, but I wasn’t posting so much about it. Instead I was posting about raids run, raids learned, pugs, puzzles and videos as well as Epic Elite raids. At the end October 2014 I also moved from Finland to Sweden, and I didn’t play much for a couple of weeks around that time.

January 23, 2015 I created the channel EEraids. I also posted about EEraids on the forums here (this thread is 2015-2016). The idea of the channel was to try and gather people who want to join me for Epic Elite raids on Saturday night. In August 2015 Defiler of the Just was released, and I spent many of my week nights in September running that raid, while doing EE Fire on Thunder Peak and EE Temple of the Deathwyrm on Saturdays. Level cap increased from 28 to 30 in December 2015.

Thazara in EE Fire on Thunderpeak June 2015

2016
Legendary raids were introduced with update 29 in December of 2015 (TS, HOX and Shroud), and my EEraids took a major toll with it. From having been able to somewhat easily get a full party for Thunderholme raids, now my raids were not filling. In January I was still posting for them, in February I was posting for Defiler and legendary raids and in March (I believe) was the data centre move. The data centre move cause a lot of problems in game, including lag that made several of the raids unplayable, so I took a break from posting for them. In September I decided to do a revival of the EEraids, and restarted the counter.  At first the main goal was to do LE Shroud each week.

2017
In February 2017 reaper difficulty and reaper xp was released. This again caused problems for my raids, as the best way to get reaper xp was to TR… and with many people TR’ing, there wasn’t that many available for raids. In March 2017 we also got racial reincarnation, i.e. yet another reason for people to TR instead of staying at cap to do raids with me. By April I had switched to posting for TS and RSO intead of Shroud, as Shroud was not filling, and I also switched the title of the blogs from “LE/EE raids” to just “Raids”, as I wasn’t actively trying to do every raid on EE anymore.
