DDO this weekend

I’m feeling really tired when writing this post, so I apologize in advance if it’s … what ever it turns out to be. πŸ™‚ I’ve had a stressful week at work. Been working 12 h days, only take breaks for lunch, bathroom and to get more coffee. Been trying to get a project finished that’s on deadline, but on friday I gave up at 8pm… was tired and knew I’d be there all night and not get it finished. Wanted to get home to the degus and DDO.

I slept well for about 8h, then did a bunch of household chores (laundry, dishes. grocery shopping and cleaning), let out degus and played DDR the hottest party 2 on wii before logging on to DDO. Here’s my Saturday runs:

Weekend runs and raids

On Saturday I got up somewhat early to take my car to get MOT tested. When I got home I wanted to log on to DDO, for some reason that I now can’t remember. πŸ™‚ I was in the market bank checking Cerge’s gear when I get a tell from someone “Hi, can I ask u a favor? We’re at the boss fight in eye of the titan and we’re all dead. Could u come and kill him for us?”. I don’t even get a chance to reply before I get a party invite, which I decide to accept. I notice that the party isn’t dead at all, which I comment on, and get the reply that they used a cake. Well, before I make it there they wipe again. πŸ™‚ I run over unbuffed, buff myself on the way to the boss fight and encounter a dream render and a spider before the boss and tell the party I just have to kill these guys before coming over to them. I’m told to park hire (which I was told to bring), and rest before attacking the boss.

Raids and the High Road

And then it was Saturday again and Thazara’s raid night. I was a bit late on again, didn’t get on til about 10pm my time (gmt+2), which means 2h until my weekly shroud. I was just on the guild ship contemplating what to do when Cleazy logged, which is still pretty early for him on a Saturday. πŸ™‚ Well he didn’t want to do U16 content, but raids, so I said, ok, anything is fine. First pick was ADQ.

Cleazy lfm’d for eADQ preraid eN, raid eH. I think we had a 6 man group for the preraid, but someone dropped, and we didn’t get a replacement. Then after the preraid someone had to leave and we ended up 4-manning the raid on epic hard. Wasn’t too difficult though, and Thaz got a raid token. πŸ™‚

Here’s what Cleazy/ Shysty got from the scorpion chest in ADQ (think he got some other stuff as well, but still, no one passed him anything):

Thaz’s Sat

I was going to log on early to run Eveningstar stuff with Zendikar, but real life stuff took longer than planned, and didn’t log on til 9 pm, Fin time. Zen was running VON, so I joined Neugash for ToD instead. Took a while for us to fill, but was a good run. I told Neug that I could prolly solo heal it, with a good party, but that I wouldn’t want to. Luckily we got a second healer. πŸ™‚ My only problem if I was to try and solo heal ToD is that u have 2 bosses in end fight and I would have to which between the one tank and the rest of the group, but I think I could do it, if I had to.

After ToD I wanted to run second Eveningstar (Sschindylryn) chain with Zen and we got a nice group for it. First quest (The House of Rusted Blades) was fast, second (The House of Broken Chains) took longer, but it was a good run. We did them on epic hard. After the second quest it was already a few minutes to midnight (5pm EST), and time for me to lfm for my weekly elite shroud.

Weekly elite shroud
This week we don’t fill super fast, but not super slow either. I get a few regulars, and healers I know, and actually have to turn down one healer. I feel kind of bad about it, this one cleric has hit my lfm before, and I always turn him down. But he does hit it when I already have 2 healers + me, and at that time I want dps, and not more heals. Yes, I am aware that divine can do some dps too, but if I’m accepting a divine as dps, it’s gonna be an fvs and not a cleric.

Here’s this week’s group (taken at the end, not start):

Shroud group

I wanted a caster in the last spot, and we ended up waiting for a caster to join. We had a nice group, but lag was crazy this time. This has got to be my laggiest run ever. We have one death in phase 4, and we take out Harry at the start of round 3. We were close to 2 rounding it, which is pretty cool for elite. Good dps.

But phase 5, omg. I’m healing and dp’ing as normally, and suddenly I (and everyone) lag badly. I’m throwing mass heals, blocking with aura running, and boom! Half the party is dead, including me. Wtf? Thazara is that sturdy in US ED, that she can take fire balls to the fase without flinching, and this time she just dropped like that. I get a raise and run around one of the corners to hide, while I raise, heal and buff. Then I sneak back in range and get back to it. I help raise some and heal, and throw some buffs. I also drink a few pots so I can continue dot’ing. The rest of the phase went smoothly.

Weekly ADQ
I want to start running at least one ADQ a week on Thaz, to try and get her the torc. I had Cleazy put up the lfm and Zendikar joins too. Nivelatorix still hasn’t flagged for it, so he can’t join (Niv, we need to get u flagged). A friend of Cleazy’s starts a second group and we do the preraid on eNorm and then the raid on eHard. Preraid’s a bit of a mess and I end up dying twice. πŸ™‚ Cleazy forgets to check quest objectives and reads the wrong Glyph twice and ends up in the penalty box. πŸ™‚ I’m keeping an eye on order and tells ppl which is next. I help out in monkey, wolf and octo, while I avoid bat. Bat has got to be the most difficult one because of traps and the crazy amount of mephits.

The raid it self is pretty smooth, and we’re 4 healers. Crap loot, though. And no torc.

Weekly eVON
Cleazy runs eVON all the time, and I had already decided to join him in one run on Sat. We do VON5 on eNorm, which is smooth, Cleazy knows it well. Thaz gets repetition penalty and only gets about 40k xp from it (compared to some getting like 80k). We enter VON6 on eHard and getting to the dragon is pretty smooth. But in the dragon fight we notice that we’re low on dps. Taking Velah out is taking too long and eggs spawn. πŸ™‚ But it wasn’t that bad, we take her out soon after. Thaz get’s an epic shard, but no token and no scale. 😦

eVON quest report

I got 1 kill, but the only thing I was attacking was Velah with dp. Wonder if I got the kill?

With this Saturday’s runs Thazara got Exalted Angel to level 4. She is now Unyielding Sentinel 5, Exalted Angel 4 and has 3 twist points. Oh, and Cleazy bought Thaz a spidersilk robe from AH (crazy since they’re so over priced), which means she now has (with ship buffs) in EA over 500hp and over 2500sp, in US over 700hp and 2035sp. I’m pretty pleased.

Here’s Thaz in her new outfit:

Thazara in her new robe

πŸ™‚ I think she looks so tiny.

That’s all folks. Tc and see you in game.

P.S. Yeah, Cleazy, I think you’re great and awesome and what ever. πŸ˜€ But you did die in eVON. haha! (Oh, yeah, I had to.)

First Saturday after vacation

I logged on on Saturday for the first time in 8 days and was immediately a bit overwhelmed. πŸ™‚ I wanted to say hi to everyone and prepare for Thazara’s Saturday elite shroud… and was planning to run something before that, but I never got to it. Oh, how I had missed u guys! Yes, to be honest I like several of my DDO friends better than I like a lot of people in my real life. Sorted Thazara’s inventory, and was then gonna do a few quick runs of Rainbow in the dark for gs twigs, but shortly after I put up the lfm someone sent me a tell that they would give me the twigs. πŸ™‚ Thank you very much! But of course I messed it up. 😦 I was going to make a cloak for Thaz and was sure I had made Green Taper before (I didn’t check, but believed I remembered correctly), that I was missing Filaments of Toil and Wondrous Oil, so I made those two only to notice I now had two filaments and no taper and not enough mats to make the taper. 😦 Well, at least the filaments aren’t bound so I can either give them to Cerge for his gs or sell them.

So, on to Thazara’s Saturday Elite Shroud. πŸ™‚ I have been mentioning it, but I prolly should add a notice to my myddo page as well. I had 2 friends join before I put up the lfm, and had a 3rd one promise to join. I put up the lfm at exactly 0:00 Finnish time or 5pm EST. My lfm was as usually 18-25 “Elite. Have hp, breakers. 2xheals, rest dps. No first timers”. I was surpriced at how slowly we were filling. My lfm rules are always, first come first served, unless I’m specifically looking for a healer or trapper. I got a few casters and a sorcerer at only 300 hp. I wasn’t paying attention, and when I got a tell asking if the sorc doesn’t have too little hp, and then a healer joins only to tell us “you’re gonna fail”, I throw the lead to my friend who’s got a lot more experience leading raids than I do. Yup, I chickened out.

Takes too long imo to fill, but we do and people try to help the sorc out to make him a bit more durable. Party is for sure semi weak, but I have faith, as I always do. πŸ™‚ I switch Thazara’s ED back to Unyielding Sentinel before the raid, and before phase 4 I change from my fav stance Vigor of Battle (+100 hp, heal amp, and on a successful hit stacking +10 hp for 1 min) to Unbreakable (+5 AC, DR 10/epic and diehard feat). The squishy sorc dies from the blades in phase 3 and 4, otherwise things are pretty good all through phase 4. I keep DoT’ing and we take out Harry in 3 rounds.

On to phase 5. Our monk parks the ellie, we kill the others and buff up. We’re ready, or so we think. Harry arrives and we fight and suddenly Harry teleports to me. I’m like wtf, how did I suddenly get aggro? πŸ˜€ lol. Thaz is sturdy as hell in her stance, and when people start dropping likes flies, I can still stay put, block and raise. For some reason we loose our third healer who ends up in the beginning, out of battle. The second healer who’s on a lvl 25 fvs (or, I think he is lvl 25, at least he has a lvl 25 fvs, lol) also drops a couple of times, and at some point Harry is down to maybe 10% and I say, now I’m just gonna continue DoT’ing (instead of raising people). But I get con damage and get helpless… and die. I get a raise from Niv, but Thaz get super squishy with death penalty, so I don’t even have time to heal up before I drop again. Everything’s messy, most of the party’s dead, but someone get’s the killing hit, runs over to the altar and we finish. πŸ™‚ Everyone can raise at the shrine that’s now available, to get loot. πŸ™‚ This has got to be the toughest Shroud I’ve run where we still finished, so kudos to everyone participating. Oh, and I did chug 3 pots compared to last time 0.

Sat Shroud

I almost forget to turn in the quest, and then I wanted to send a tell to the cleric who told me we were gonna fail, but he was offline. Forgot to add him to my friend list, so I could send him a tell later. πŸ™‚ I wanted to do the “ha-ha! we finished!”. I love proving people wrong, lol. I jump on a party doing eVON raid epic hard as their second healer and switch Thazara’s ED back to Exalted Angel before entering. I’m thinking, eHard with only 2 healers, and the other is a clonk with a lot less sp than me? Party is pretty weak (compared to the ones I’ve previously run with) and it’s a bit of a difficult ride to the end fight, but we get there. The other healer forgets to rest, so only me is at good mana, while he’s out, but he tells us he has 15 turns left, so I tell him to just keep spamming them and we’ll be fine. Takes us way too long to take out the boss in VON5 imo, but we get it done and Thaz get’s 50k XP for her ED, even with -30% repetition penalty (5x).

We enter VON6 and I go to the 3rd base as I’m told, even though, someone says at some point that the cleric didn’t go to the base she was suppose to and I’m not sure if it meant me or the other one. I was told 3rd base, and to me that’s the one that’s furthest away, i.e. wind. But anywho, we get to the dragon fight and Thaz gets close to dropping a couple of times. Man! She’s so much squishier in EA than in US. πŸ™‚ But we finish. Yay! Oh, and during VON5 a party member sends me a tell “Nice to finally run with u, I read your blog” (or something like that). πŸ™‚ Hi there, always nice to meet readers, but I do love getting stars and comments as acknowledgement that people have read it, so please, do comment. πŸ™‚ Or, send me a pm.

Saturday eVON

After VON I jump on a party doing Lords of Dust eNorm, looking for a divine to bless the altars. They’re almost done, only missing the altars and boss fight. So, I get some quick XP from that, and then decide to head over to King’s Forest. I put up an lfm “Just running around King’s Forest looking for commendations”. I somewhat quickly get a full party and a wizard who leads us around. We do 3 instances and in the third one we meet the second green dragon, my first time. I get a nice amount of XP, and enough commendations to get Star of Day for Thaz. Thaz got her ED to 1, that is, she is/ has now GMoF0, EA1 and US5. Also less than 300 slays for 1,500 in King’s Forest. I stayed with the group until the wiz had to leave (at around 6.30 Finnish time), then went to get my Star of Day, finally! But to my disappointment it’s required trait good, UMD 26. 😦 Thazara is true natural (I bought a change from Lawful good at lvl 18) and has no UMD. I’m really disappointed that I wasted 15 commendations on an item I cannot use. I added req good and umd 26 to wiki, but then I started thinking that maybe not all of them are that, if the enhancements are random? Maybe it was just bad luck that I got the good one? I’m not planning on farming for commendations in a while anyway, nothing I currently want.

Protect the fox rare:

The second green dragon (Urklauth):

I don’t usually like putting pics of slain creatures here, but he did not disappear right away, so I took a pic. He was gone a second later.

Slain dragon

So, yup, my Saturday turned into a 8.5 h gaming session, lol. πŸ™‚ And I didn’t even get any favor, but Thaz did gain a bunch of epic token fragments and is getting closer to 20 tokens. I wasn’t farming for tokens before U14, so this is the most I have ever had. I was going to save up for 2 hearts of wood and one epic crystal for Thaz, but it seems as though I will buy the hearts and just use the tokens for a crystal for Thaz.

Alright, that’s all from me for now. Ty for reading and happy questing.

P.S. tl;dr – I’ve got nothing. Just look at the pictures, lol. πŸ˜€

Saturday; bad and good runs

My night didn’t start off that great. I was a bit tired, yes, but that’s not uncommon since I do often let DDO come before sleep. I joined a group for HoX and we went in on hard. Here’s what bothered me about it. 1. the person with the star wasn’t leading and didn’t even have voice. 2. things went south, and at least 3 people recalled (including the second healer – we were only 2). I’m incredibly stubborn and will fight until there’s nothing left to fight for. I was out of mana, but I started running around raising people with scrolls. We got mini beholders, then large beholders, bees and what ever you can think of. The beholders kept uncharming the puppies and people kept dying. Our tank stayed on mommy, while me and the ones still in, were running around killing beholders and renders. Or, I was mostly running around raising people and trying to throw a heal once in a while.

I blame me. I tried, I know. I’m proud of my effort, but if I hadn’t died, I think we would have finished. I stayed in center with the beholders a little while too long, instead of running off, and died. The only one left was our tank. She, though, did a great job. Mommy had been made vulnerable already and our tank was beating on her like crazy. Got mommy down to 1% before she dropped. 😦 Meh. I didn’t want to go again, since I had spent a lot of scrolls and time on the quest, and didn’t feel like doing it again.

I lfm’d for Running with the devils normal “a quick run for gs stone”, and got some people for it. Was a nice and quick run. Then I joined someone doing Weapons shipment elite. First time. We get to the second room/ area without any problems, then I quickly start getting annoyed. Group’s a barb, pally, wizard, fvs and bard. I don’t know what the wizard was doing, but he for some reason was meleing and kept dying. I told him to go shrine at least 3 times before he did. But he still kept dying and I didn’t want to raise him anymore. And then for some reason the fvs decides to pike in the shrine room. I’m running around with aggro from casters, trying to stay alive and raise. The fvs comes back, enters the area and I pick up 2 stones to take them to the shrine. The fvs follows, and it’s a fail. No one left in the same area as the NPC and it’s over. I’m so annoyed with both the wiz and the fvs that I don’t want to rerun.

So finally I do my saturday elite shroud lfm. I get two healers I know from before, and a lot of dps. Seems good. But I get a halfling wizard named Herecomestrouble or something similar, who’s getting on my, and probably the other’s nerves as well starting with phase 2. He was throwing disco and sleet storm around, not listening and not communicating. Two things that I can’t stand (people not listening and not communicating). πŸ™‚ Phase 2’s a bit messy, I belive we have 2 failed attempts before we manage to get the crystal, and I’m not aware that we were done, because I was trying to get people to listen to the basic rules. Then I felt sorta embarrassed that I was yelling out orders after we were done. Let’s blame lag, ok?

One of the other healers dc’d and people open the chests before he returned. Not cool. Also someone clicked on the altar to start the timer on phase 3 before our dc’d fvs had come back. Again, not cool. At least I know that that guy who dc’d has maybe 8 lvl 20 toons and run raids every day, so I don’t think it mattered to him that he didn’t get the chests, but it’s about principles, people! πŸ™‚

Anywho, phase 3’s fine, phase 4’s a bit messy again, with some communication problems. And I die! 2 others die as well, but I’m the third to go down, and in my own raid. 😦 I’m pretty disappointed. Before phase 5 the wizard isn’t responsive, and doesn’t rest to get his mana back. I don’t know what’s up with him, but who cares? Phase 5 goes sort of smoothly, even though we have a few deaths. And I decide that I’m not gonna pot this time. I run out of mana close to the end, since I’m offensive casting (DoT’ing) as well the whole time, but I don’t pot, use a few scrolls, but let the fvs who still had mana do the healing just before the end. So yay! Thaz’s 14th shroud completion.

The fvs who dc’d earlier, he swaps to another of his toons and puts up an lfm for eVON hard (or he did have eVON5 normal, eVON6 hard, but I persuaded him to do eVON5 hard as well, lol), so me and a barb from Shroud join. I don’t know VON5. I haven’t counted how many times I’ve run it, fewer than Shroud anyway, and I don’t know all the objectives or where you’re supposed to go. I just follow the group and hope I don’t get lost. πŸ™‚ Well we did well and I get 81,805 xp for eVON5 (my second run of it) and something like 39k for eVON6. I didn’t get any red devil scale, though.

Then our leader swaps back to his fvs, or maybe it was another of them, and we decide to do hard eADQ1-2. This was my first time running eADQ. I manage to stay alive, even though I get hit by the traps in bat, and we do have a little bit of difficulties in some parts, but ADQ1 in maybe 40 minutes. Rebuff and then ADQ2. Now, fighting Queen Lailat I actually enjoy. πŸ™‚ Thaz can actually stand and block, and just spam her with dp (I swapped to unbreakable stance with gives Thaz the die hard feat and dr10 epic). So, I was doing that. πŸ™‚ A nice run and the xp got Thaz to Unyielding Sentinel 5.

I activated Exalted Angel, and now Thaz only has 440 hp buffed 😦 When in US – Vigor of battle stance she has 640. I’ll likely swap back to US for my weekly elite Shroud, though. I was hoping to make Thaz a hp gs item before swapping to EA, but I didn’t even have enough stuff to make the blank 😦 meh. From where do you even get the stuff for the blank? Vale quests?

Alright, that’s all from me for now. Tc and see you in game.

Peace out.

Give me my Shroud completion! … and epics

After yesterday’s Shroud wipes, I put up a new lfm for “hard or elite depending on party”. I’m about to take the lfm down when a couple of people join, and then a few more. I get a nice amount of hp, and I’m expecting the dps to be good, so we decide to do elite. Everything’s pretty good, until part 4. People die. Too fast. I mess up my buttons, and die. Harry’s not even down to 50% and it’s a wipe. Meh. This run I was the first healer to go down. I’m not used to that. πŸ˜€ haha. Thaz still has over 500 hp, and the other cleric was on less than 400 (3 healers in elite shroud). So I suggest we try again on hard. Both runs I get to do a 5×5 puzzle, second run I had to solve down 3 times, but we got it done before the rainbow was up πŸ™‚ Oh, and this was probably my first shroud were 1. no one died in part 4 and 2. I was offensive casting the whole time in part 4-5 (+ healing of course). No one died in part 5 either, it was a very good run. An yay! Finally Thaz’s weekly Shroud completion. That’s 10 completions (5 normal, 5 hard) and 9 fails (8 wipes – 1 normal, 6 hard, 2 elite). Yeah, I know, she’s a baby Shroud runner. But she does so much else too πŸ™‚

Thaz made a new friend, and got an invite to join another guild. πŸ™‚ She’s not really ready to move at this point, but who knows. He was on his lvl 25 fvs and I gave him the star for running something else. New lfm and 2 runs of VON3 hard. Total about 113 k xp, 1 rank + level in the epic destiny and lvl 22 (which I will not be taking for a while). Thazara’s now got 569 hp in Vigor of Battle stance. Unbuffed.

I didn’t get very good shots of the Jungle of Kyber runs, but here’s the ones I took:

These are from the second run. Thazara was very much the underdog, with at least 4 lvl 25’s πŸ™‚ (I don’t know what lvl Theseas was). But in the Marut fight she was able to just stay put and block while DoT’ing him. He hit her for maybe 50 hp? With every punch, so not much at all, I just once in a while threw a burst. πŸ™‚ I took the second picture just before the Marut went down. Oh btw, Thazara’s a pretty good caster sometimes. πŸ™‚ I threw Energy drain + Destruction at the beholders and saw a few of them go down with one shot.

Alright, that’s all for now. Tc and see you in game.

Gaming Saturday

On Saturday I had decided to just take a day off, relax and play some DDO. But to my disappointment, when I open my computer at around 2.30 pm, the ddo.com domain has disappeared. I head over to the guild forums and learn that the ddo.com domain registration has expired. Seriously!?! So what am I going to do now? I’ve reserved most of the day for gaming, and now I can’t. Well I end up doing some laundry and watching tv, as well as caring for the degus and a few hours later I was able to log on again.

With the 30% bonus xp weekend I really should be playing my alts, not my capped cleric, but Saturdays are kinda Thazara’s time. I was thinking of heading over to ADQ to finally try and solo it, then notice a friend online and send him a tell “when did u want to do shroud?”. He replies “after this. Join ** if you want to come.” (he’s doing ADQ). πŸ™‚ So I join, head over to ADQ (get someone to show me the way to the preraid again, since I’m still unsure about the way) and the run’s fine. Then I join my friend’s lfg for a hard shroud. This time I’ve decided to wear minos, my epic ring of buccaneer (tier 2) and my greater false life belt, instead of switching to a heavy fort belt and greater false life ring as I usually do in shroud. For a hard shroud I feel I really need to wear the ring and minos. Since my archmagi item is a crystal cove hat, putting on minos means I lose 200 sp, but that’s fine in most quests, since I use the hat for buffs ans then switch to minos. I tell the party already before we head in that I plan on wearing minos and losing 200 sp for it.

When we finally start we’ve lost both the bard and the third cleric, so we’re only two cleric’s running (might have been an fvs in the group, but I think it was only me and the other cleric healing). Part one goes fine, I put on my archmagi hat, rest, loot.. and want to buff before continuing, but people have already rushed off. I figure, ok, I’ll buff on the other side, but no. I have this thing, I want to buff, put on minos, and use my superior ardor VI clicky before I do any healing. So, I’m very annoyed with people for not waiting for it. I just throw some buffs, put on minos and use my clicky… let the other healer care for the situation (if someone had died because I wasn’t healing, I prob would have thrown a fit). People are still rushing, and since I’m annyed I forget that part 3 is puzzles, and just buff myself before heading in… and when I get there someone has finished my puzzle! Most people would be happy about this, but this just ruins the frickin run for me. The only bloody reason I’m running this is to do the puzzles (well loot, too, but I want to learn the puzzles).

At least before part 4 and 5 people let us buff, and I’m wearing my minos. We have one death in part 4 and none in 5 (or if we did I forgot about it), so over all that’s a successful run. When harry’s down to some smaller % I drink a pot (I’ve apparently saved quite a few, since I have 11 major mana pots in my backpack), even though I avoid potting but figure I’d better make sure we finish this. So, my first hard shroud completion. Yay!

πŸ™‚ I’ve put up a lfg for Lord of Eyes elite, since I’ve yet to run it (elite for favor). But since no one is joining I jump on a party running Wrath of the Flame elite, and in the party there’s two clerics (including me) and an fvs πŸ˜€ Well we had a smooth run, one death, but a pretty quick completion (I was like, what, was that it?).

I’m chatting with someone (forgot who), when my friend (from Shroud and ADQ) sends me a tell “VON6 elite?” They’ve already done VON5 elite (cept the last fight), and I get the favor from that one. Yay! And VON6 goes pretty smoothly. Crappy loot, though.

And then I notice another acquaintance lfg’ing for Abbot. πŸ™‚ I send him a tell that I’ve yet to run it and that I don’t know the puzzles. But he let’s me join. Run’s a mess πŸ™‚ many deaths and one guys gets incapacitated in the asteroid room. Incapacitated basically means you’re stuck. But at some point he learns that clicking release means you die and are transported back to the main room. I died several times and one of the times I stand too close to the edge and my stone falls in the water. Meh. Leader has to throw me a raise twice, since it takes me like 7 sec to swim to surface and then 1-2 to climb up, and I miss the time on the first raise. In the end we’re successful. My end loot is completely worthless, though.

Black abbot

And before going to bed I ask my friend if he’d like have his arti help Cerge out with von3-4. His arti is lvl 11, Cerge’s 16. Von3-4 elite is 11. He’s ok with doing von4 (says he wants to do von3 with another toon), so we head off to that one. πŸ™‚ And finally Cerge gets his von4 completion. The arti dies a couple of times in the traps, though, but we finish the run in less than 45 mins πŸ™‚

Except for my annoyance in Shroud, the evening was pretty good. Thazara got her first favor in weeks and is now up in something like 3324 favor, Cerge got his von4 completion and I had over all a nice time.

Just an update from me.
Tc and see you ingame.

P.S. I believe I need to farm for tome pages for Thazara (for archmagi), so I can wear minos all the time. She’s pretty much an underdog in most raids/quests with her less than 400 hp and less than 2000 sp. Minos will have her at just over 400 hp.

Recently 16 and VON4 pt 2

Last night I decided to give Haywire Foundry a second go, after my failure on Tuesday night (Recently 16 and VON4). This time I’m a little better prepared, I bring 100 pots of repair serious, 100 pots of repair mod and 2 wands of 50 charges of repair serious. I also get another hire than last time, a fleshy lvl 16 fighter (I believe it was this one: Quintesia Velassa). She worked out well, fighting everything in reach, and sometimes staying behind to fight mechanics I had run past (which sometimes can be an annoyance, but worked well for me, since I would have to fight them eventually anyway). The only problem with this hire was that I had to wand heal her (luckily I had a wand of cure serious wounds as well, and one of cure mod). Unlike the barb hire I had last time, I didn’t have to control this hire at all, but she fought and followed on her own.

This time I know where to go and what to do, I run past the traps, and kill all the mechanics and doggies on the way. Before having my hire pull the trapped lever, I make sure to kill all the mechanics down below, so I wouldn’t have to fight them when taking the hire to the shrine. I do east and west sides and pull both levelers before shrining, and buff before heading into the puzzle room (even buff the hire). Solve the puzzle in 1 min, rebuff before boss fight and finish the boss fight in 5 min or less (man! how much easier it was with mana and buffs, I was able to stay put and block and and just spam spells at the Master Control Unit). Rebuff once more before pulling the lever and start heading back (haste and jump work really well, as well as blur, displacement, prot from elements, etc).

I believe I hit at least yellow, maybe orange dungeon alert when running past the defenders, and decide I have to take them out, which isn’t a problem. (lovely snowball swarm hit 3-4 and killed 1-2 with every hit). I get to the end and my last objective is “Find Haywire”. I have a bunch of doggies on my tail, so I turn around to take them out, not even noticing the fire elementals. Yeah, they’re spamming me with fire balls or something, I notice it, but since I’m not taking damage I just fight the doggies. I take out the last doggies only to realize, darn I’m taking damage, retreat! Too late…

Fire elemental

Meh. Let’s hope third try’s the charm.

Tc and see you around Orien or Cannith.

P.S. I haven’t done VON3 with this toon yet, I’m going to get my trapper buddy to help me out with that one. πŸ™‚

P.P.S I don’t really like soloing, but I figured I’d better learn to play this toon before grouping with other people. I did play him lvls 4-10, and at 16 it’s pretty much the same, only that he has more spells, more sp and is a bit tougher πŸ™‚

Recently 16 and VON4

So, last night I was itching to go try out my newly level 16 water savant sorcerer. I looked over gear once more (and checked AH for possible improved/ greater false life and constitution tomes). I had decided to give Haywire Foundry elite a go, I figured, lvl 9 elite shouldn’t be a problem for a lvl 16 sorcerer. I brought a lvl 16 barbarian hire to help me out. Well the hire turned out to be completely useless. No matter which mode I had him in, I couldn’t get him to do anything but a minimum amount of fighting, the rest of the time he was just standing around (even when I explicitly told him to fight a specific foe, he would just bug out). During the first few mobs I was trying out my new spells (I had a whole new list of spells that I didn’t have at lvl 10, and I also just switched from fire to water savant) and trying to figure out the best spells for these mobs. I realized, as before, that my sorc’s pretty awesome πŸ™‚ His cold spells crit for 500+.

But I pretty quickly also realized, I didn’t remember this quest at all (ran it last time last year when Thazara was lvl 11), and after pulling the first lever for the north door, I took a wrong turn (well I found a chest anyway) and ended up dying from acid. Hire was still standing, but was bugging out, again. I was trying to get him to climb a ladder, but he wouldn’t, and any time I got up top, he wouldn’t follow. Took me several tries to get him up, then I took a wrong turn again and ended up in the same spot. So, again I had to fight with the stupid hire, but eventually he brought me to the shrine and I was able to get back up. After this I remembered where to go (to find the second lever for the north door), but was already running out of mana. I cast an unextended jump (for 10 sp), and killed the mobs one by one with my water savant niac’s cold ray (heightened and maximized for 2 sp, most mobs drop in two hits) and made my way to the lever. And boom! Death trap! πŸ™‚ I did not remember that. Tried to have the hire pick up my stone, but of course he just died. But I realized, hey the shrine is just below to the left, and I’m not wearing my feather fall. Yay! I can make it.

So I head to the shrine to resurrect, then head back up to do the optional (pull all the levers to turn off the fire traps) and to pick up my hire, which went fine. But, I’m running on regenerated (12 sp) mana only. I get my hire to the shrine and heal him with a wand of repair serious damage (he’s a wf, I’m a wf, so that works out great), and head over to the north gate. I’m in bad need of a shrine, but oh, well, I have a few spells that cost 12 sp or less (savant niac’s cold ray, snowball swarm, sonic blast and lightning bolt), so I can manage. I get to the puzzle room, and the ooze start dropping. I mostly ignore them and let my hire deal with them, but I can’t seem the figure out the stupid puzzle. πŸ™‚ Luckily one of my guildies respond in the guild chat when I ask about the puzzle. But, since it took me so long to solve, my wand of repair serious damage has broken, I’m really running low on repair pots (had maybe 50 pots of repair serious and 50 of repair mod, and two wands of repair serious – 50 charges), and the hire’s weapon has broken.

Iron golem

I open the door to the boss room, not even realizing what’s behind the door, and omg omg omg! Huge defenders and iron golems! What can I do but run, back and forth and round and round, stopping every few secs to turn around and throw snowball swarm. One by one the doggies and golems drop, except the boss, the Master Control Unit. I’m hitting him for 50 or less with every snowball swarm and my hire is just running after him trying to kick him πŸ˜€ If I had had a chance to stop and watch it would have been very amusing. So, I run and run and run, around and around and around. I realize that I run much faster than he does, so as long as I stay out of dodge I can cast snowball swarm at him every few seconds, without getting hit. I’m getting tired of running, so I take a wrong turn and he hits me and I’m down to 22 hp (and out of repairs). I’m not about to give up, though, so I just try to be a little more careful and continue running, and yay! After it seems like forever he drops and I head over to pick up the key and pull the lever. And start running back. I get all the way up, and then get hit with acid or something and die. I figure, if I can only get the hire to the end, I might be able to finish, but he picks up my stone only to get incapacitated. Do hireling wf’s regenerate? Seems to take like forever, but he does.. only to die a second later. And it’s a wipe. Meh.

πŸ™‚ Well, next time I know where to go and what to do, and I’m bringing a lot more repairs πŸ™‚

Ty for reading and see you around Orien or Cannith.
