And we’re raiding again

I have been doing my Saturday night raid marathon for about 2 years. I started doing them around the time I met Cleazy. At first I was only joining other’s lfms, later I started posting my own. I looked at some of my posts from 2 years ago, and I found the first few posts where I talk about raiding Saturday (see e.g. August 5, 2012 Sort of a meh night, Give me my Shroud completion! … and epics, August 12, 2012 Saturday gaming). Looking at some of the screenies, I even found some of the ppl I still play with, including Osi on an alt. πŸ™‚

Anywho, I was away for for 2 weeks, and therefor missed two raids Saturdays. After farming Thunderholme raids, and after doing raids with Osi for about a year (and level cap getting raised to 28), many of the raids have really lost their charm. Some of the raids I like running because the xp is still pretty good (von, adq, chrono), while others I’ve pretty much stopped doing (shroud, ToD). I don’t even run Thunderholme raids much since getting the 20th completions on the on 3 toons.

Still, I was looking forward to raiding with Osi. I don’t see him much at all anymore, and he pretty much only plays during raid night once a week. Osi logged a bit early, and I was already online on Thaz. I wanted to run Thaz this time. As usually we started with ADQ and ran eH/ eE as a 6 man group. There was a few deaths in the raid bit, but still a pretty standard run.

After ADQ Osi asked me if I need to switch toons for some raids, and I told him that yes, I’d like to do chrono, von and fot on Thaz, Thunderholme and CitW on Cerge. So Osi suggested we join someone else’s lfm for FoT, which we did. This person had been away from the game for like half a year or so, so they needed a bit of help assigning roles. This was a fun run, though. SR tank didn’t know to use spell absorption and died. So Osi took over both kiting undead and SR. I was helping dps TO til I noticed that they needed help with SR, and I got boomed but didn’t die. SR tank took over again when he was raised, we prepped him well and killing was flawless.

Easter weekend and ddo

Easter Friday and Monday are national holidays in Finland. I still decided to pretty much play my normal hours, except for on Saturday logging on a couple of hours earlier than I usually do. It was a very good Saturday and Sunday for me. On Saturday I got to run with Crush and Deli in Vale and Lords of Dust chain (we were all lvl 18, I was running Maidae), and those guys I just have a lot of respect for, and it pretty much made my day. I did switch to Cerge for my and Osi’s raid night at 9 and we ran eH/eE ADQ, eH CitW, eH FoT, eH/ eH VON, ee Chrono and elite TOD. I was talking to a friend during some of those runs, so I was rather distracted, but I enjoy running the raids and it just feels good having Osi there. ToD did not fill this time, so we short manned it (only 7 ppl) and the run was a bit slower than usually. When Osi logged off, even though I was super tired I still decided to post for Deathwyrm and Firepeak raids, only eN. Deathwyrm has slowly become a pretty routine raid for me, even though I still don’t know the puzzles off by heart. My guildie Jedli has been learning them, and he’s now helping me do them (if he’s online). The run wasn’t super fast, but we completed, and then I posted for Firepeak. The Firepeak run was going annoying. We lacked dps, ppl weren’t listening, and at some point I for a moment feared we were gonna wipe. But we pulled through and completed. I did apologize afterwards for the run to someone.

Sunday I logged at 1pm with the plan to xp my ED’s on Cerge. I posted for eH/ eH VON again, and Osi and Jedli joined me. I was in no hurry to start, I was cleaning my inventory and having a cup coffee, and we slowly filled. I started when I had half a party, and like always I did the voice and the ring. I managed to fall down off the bridge on the left side north, but got back up with my boots of propulsion. And when I was going to talk to the head east, I notice the puzzle isn’t done (person working on it had only gotten 1/3 of the way), so I spend some time working on the puzzle while the rest of the party is waiting south (can’t continue until the head is read). I usually don’t do the puzzle since I have to wiki it and it’s just slow, others are faster. But after a few min I got it done and we were able to continue the raid. I as always asked Osi to do the bases, and he put ppl on fire and ice… I solo ran to air and though I was able to prep and kill the djinn myself, my arrows only showed 0 damage on the pillar, so we had to redo it with more ppl on air.

EE raiding

People enjoy different things in game. I love running raids, and have for a long time, but what I enjoy the most are ee raids. After this weekend I have now run all the raids that have an epic difficulty, on epic elite, some more than once. I have run ee VON6 and ee ADQ a number of times, ee CitW and ee Chrono only a couple of times, and now ee MA once (ee LoB once as well). I was supriced at how easy ee MA was compared to FoT and CitW, even though neither of them feel like a struggle anymore. Of course, for a good run you need ppl with dps who know what they’re doing, and this is why I currently do not host these.

This weekend in ddo

It’s been a while since I wrote one of these blogs. I used to always do a weekend run down, talk about how the raids were going etc. It started becoming routine, so I stopped doing them. Anywho, here’s what I did this weekend in ddo.

Maidae in Misery’s peak. This pic has really nothing to do with this post in question, but I TR’d Maidae last weekend, and I never posted the routine Misery’s Peak picture.

My plan was to run raids Saturday night on Thazara and Cerge, then Storms horns heroic elite on Sunday on Cerge. I logged around 8pm on Saturday and posted for CitW “Normal cause I’m lazy. Will start with 6”. Β My rule is usually, I leave the lfm up for ~10 min, if no one joins I do something else, if 1 person joins I leave the lfm up a bit longer. Took a little while but I got 5.. and then 6, and then a few more. So I suggest we get started. I plan to solo heal, cause it’s normal. Solo healing a raid of not all self healing ppl, starting it, trying to handle the lfm and applications and tells at the same time while making sure the party doesn’t die.. is a bit of a challenge. But I do this often, lol. I take Ana and we get to it. Dps is fine, but ppl aren’t playing too healer friendly so we have some deaths, and some ppl fall off. But the end fight is very good, and we get our 6th chest. One guy keeps dc’ing so in the end we don’t wait for him, but loot. I believe 3 named items dropped.

Attitude

This weekend I ended up playing a lot longer in one session, than I had first planned. The plan was to run with my sister and Kudesnik at midnight my time, and I logged at 8pm, which gave me 4h to run raids etc before switching to my druid. I wanted to run CitW so put up an lfm for it. Things didn’t go so well, 3 h later the only thing I had done was that damn CitW. I jumped on a not so elite Shroud, just to get something easy done before switching, even though there were some first timers. I have not run Shroud as many times as some long time players, but with 40+ runs on Thaz (most on hard or elite), ~30 runs on Cerge and 7? runs on Maidae, Shroud doesn’t give me stress almost at all. I don’t care if ppl mess up, because in most cases it can be completed anyway. Fail percentage is ~0 (I have wiped in Shroud, but it has been due to lag or trying elite with a not elite party). Anywho.

Switching to my level 12 druid, the plan was to run a heroic elite VON 5-6. I have run VON 30+ times (again, not as many as some, but have still run it on 4 toons now), but I’ve never done the voice and the ring, so I was expecting someone else to do it. The first try we lagged out completely (instance freeze) and had to restart. But second try, was fine, except, I had to learn the hard way how to do the ring and the voice. I didn’t talk twice to the north and the east head and had to go back and do it.Β  This leads up to the topic of the blog post. First, a friend and a guildie logged as we were ip with the first try, and when I asked if he’d like to come, he replies “you’ve been in there a long time already” and “it usually takes about 30 minutes”. I know he knows VON really well, while I don’t know it, so thanks for not helping. After me getting irritated he says “I already did it, and I want to save the xp for epic levels”. Well, thanks. So, instead of telling me you just don’t want to do it, you start off by putting me down for taking too long? And to top it off, someone in the party says “this is probably the longest VON group I’ve been in”.Β  My response to that was (no, I don’t hold back, and I can be pretty harsh) “well, if it’s taking too long, do something to fix it”. This person did nothing.

Weekend post

Blog time. πŸ™‚ I haven’t had much time to “fix” my wordpress blog. It’ll take some time for me to get used to it/ be happy with it. We’ll see what happens.

This Friday I passed on Cannith night, as I had a couple of friends + my sister coming over for drinks and games (Buzz quizes). πŸ™‚ We had a nice time, prolly a bit too much to drink, and the ppl stayed til 4am on Saturday morning. My sister was staying over, so on Saturday we decided to go bowling and to see a movie (ended up picking Oz the Great and Powerful). I’m not a great bowler, but playing with a bit of a hang over seemed to work very well, lol. Second round I bowled a perfect round, i.e. didn’t miss a single pin the whole round, got a few strikes and the rest was spares. 195 points, and my best round so far. πŸ™‚ Very cool.

Saturday night is raid night

After 2 weeks of no raids, except an eVON and a hard shroud on Wednesday, I was starting to suffer from raid abstinence. So, my Saturday plan was raids, raids and more raids. I’ve got 2 epic toons, Thazara is flagged for everything, except Reaver’s Fate, as I didn’t bother to reflag her after U17, Cerge is flagged for Titan, Shroud, VON, ADQ, CitW and FoT, and my lvl 18, Maidae is flagged for Titan, VON, Shroud and Abbot. Why Titan, u ask? Well, I have a friend who’s a bit obsessed with that raid, so I ended up flagging all my toons. The gloves would be awesome for Cerge, though.

Raid Night

Saturday is as some of you know my raid night. πŸ™‚ Usually my friends log on later, so I try to save TOD, ADQ and Shroud for later. This Sat I logged on at about 7pm, GMT+2. After my crazy photo collection in the last post, I have tried to reduce it in this one to only one pic per raid/ run.

Shroud (elite)
I figured, since I run elite shroud on Thaz later in the night, and my friends usually join that one, I could run one on Cerge earlier. I seem to have gotten a lot more relaxed with the raids, and especially elite shroud. I’ve always been putting requirements in the lfm, but now I just put 20-25, elite. πŸ™‚ I accepted anyone hitting the lfm basically. I got 3 clerics, 2 wizards, 2 monks, fighter, rogue and other sorc. Dps was good. We messed up phase 2 first try by killing the ellie too soon, but succeeded on second try. Phase 4 was a 2 rounder with a few deaths, but we just took him out as I ran out of mana. And phase 5 was good. πŸ˜› This was Cerge’s 11th Shroud and 2nd elite (others hard).

Saturday raids marathon

Brace urself, this is going to be long. πŸ™‚

Last Saturday I didn’t play at all, and this week I ran mabar mon-tues, wed I ran an elite shroud on Maidae, thurs Cleazy helped me elite flag Cerge for DD and friday the Cannith group ran Wiz king elite. Last week I think I also only ran one time with Cleazy, so this sat I had decided to run raids with him all night (night for me anyway). Here’s the run down on Thazara’s Saturday night.

ADQ 1-2 eNorm & eHard

I was a bit late to log on, I usually try to get on 3 h before my weekly shroud, but this time I wasn’t on til about 1.5h before. I saw an lfm up for ADQ, but it disappeared before I could hit it. Put up an lfm for ToD instead and Cleazy logged on and joined. We had no joiners in a few min so I suggested we hit the new ADQ lfm that had come up instead. Joined the preraid just as they were finishing up the rooms. πŸ™‚ I sort of like doing that, because then someone else has already done all the work, lol!
