Raiding again

I have written many blogs about raid night.. and here it is again. Osi doesn’t play ddo a whole lot anymore, he still manages out guild ship mostly, so he might log to put stuff on shard ah, check his mail and buy buffs for the guild. And then he logs to raid with me on Saturday night.

This Saturday I went for a swim at the local pool, cleaned at home and took care of the degus… then I poured myself a glass of wine and watched some TV, before logging on to raid with Osi. I’m again trying to give up coffee, so having not slept enough, add wine, and I was starting to feel tired after a few raids.

Lately I let Osi decide what raids we run, he usually checks the lfm that we’re not lfm’ing for the same as someone else. He told me to post for VoN.

And we’re raiding again

I have been doing my Saturday night raid marathon for about 2 years. I started doing them around the time I met Cleazy. At first I was only joining other’s lfms, later I started posting my own. I looked at some of my posts from 2 years ago, and I found the first few posts where I talk about raiding Saturday (see e.g. August 5, 2012 Sort of a meh night, Give me my Shroud completion! … and epics, August 12, 2012 Saturday gaming). Looking at some of the screenies, I even found some of the ppl I still play with, including Osi on an alt. 🙂

Anywho, I was away for for 2 weeks, and therefor missed two raids Saturdays. After farming Thunderholme raids, and after doing raids with Osi for about a year (and level cap getting raised to 28), many of the raids have really lost their charm. Some of the raids I like running because the xp is still pretty good (von, adq, chrono), while others I’ve pretty much stopped doing (shroud, ToD). I don’t even run Thunderholme raids much since getting the 20th completions on the on 3 toons.

Still, I was looking forward to raiding with Osi. I don’t see him much at all anymore, and he pretty much only plays during raid night once a week. Osi logged a bit early, and I was already online on Thaz. I wanted to run Thaz this time. As usually we started with ADQ and ran eH/ eE as a 6 man group. There was a few deaths in the raid bit, but still a pretty standard run.

After ADQ Osi asked me if I need to switch toons for some raids, and I told him that yes, I’d like to do chrono, von and fot on Thaz, Thunderholme and CitW on Cerge. So Osi suggested we join someone else’s lfm for FoT, which we did. This person had been away from the game for like half a year or so, so they needed a bit of help assigning roles. This was a fun run, though. SR tank didn’t know to use spell absorption and died. So Osi took over both kiting undead and SR. I was helping dps TO til I noticed that they needed help with SR, and I got boomed but didn’t die. SR tank took over again when he was raised, we prepped him well and killing was flawless.

Sat raids and drinking

I’ve been stressing so much over my vacation trip that I’m going on next week. So much I need to do before the trip, so little time to do it. I’ve never been away from the degus for this long (2 weeks) before, and my sister is going to be staying at my place to take care of them. After stressing another day, I was craving some alcohol. 🙂 So this Sat night I was raiding.. first tipsy and later on sorta drunk. Apparently the raid groups were amused, anyway, lol. Osi logged a bit late, but after some waiting we got going. We ran eH/eE ADQ, eH/eH VON, eE Chrono and eH CitW. Osi had the star the whole time. After CitW Osi gave me the star and we asked the group what ppl wanted to run. Deathwyrm was suggested to us, so I said I’d post for it. Osi did not want to run, so he dropped group and logged off a short while later.

I was getting pretty tipsy at this point, but I’ve run Deathwyrm enough times to be able to lead it even in my sleep, lol. Since Cerge has a bravery streak going, I wanted to do eH, not eN, and started as soon as I had a few ppl. I donno if it’s the alcohol or if I’m just otherwise playing poorly, but I manage to get myself killed by trash a few times and only do the first 2 mirror puzzles, before Cheri takes over. I try to get back to helping, but only manage to turn a few mirrors, before I’m over run by trash and dead, again. So, after a while I give up on doing puzzles and just focus on killing trash and trying to focus on my raid group.

We get to the shrine room and wait for most of the ppl who got left behind while I talk over the plan. And in we go. One person had got left dead in the red light/ green light room, so another player goes to get him (jumping off the edge takes you to the 5th puzzle area, red light/ green light is after the 6th, so you can just run through), one person grabs dragon, another battle rangers and I try my best at organizing the group as well as helping kill death lords. Everything is ok until we get to the shadow side. I start sending ppl into the portal one at a time and the ones left on the dragon side start having problems. Dragon keeper gets trash on him and no one helps, battle ranger kiter dies, dragon keeper dies, and then suddenly we get kicked out of shadow side because everyone on dragon side is dead.

We lose a couple more and I tell ppl that we need to get things under control before getting back to the phylactery hunt. I start raising ppl but then I die, some of the ppl taking raises die. It’s a bit of a mess but we manage to get everyone up and the trash situation taken care of. I assign someone as trash killer and we get back to our tasks. It turns out that not everyone in the group is able to self heal well enough to manage on their own, so after a while we start pairing ppl up. The real phylactery just isn’t showing it’s face, so after many attempts killing the phylactery in the first portal we attempt to prep 3. First try is a bust as someone breaks a phylactery too soon. Second try is a bust again, because one person dies in the room and only 2 are broken. Third try same thing, except I’m the one who manages to die in there.

We must have done this 4-5 times, but in the end we break the real phylactery. Then on to picking up the pieces and dps’ing the dragon. I get two people to volunteer for lever duty, and at this point my attention span is extremely small, I’m not following what’s going on, but I’ve lost my clothes, suddenly the dragon is down, the levers are pulled and we finish. I check the quest report, I’ve died 17 times! No wonder I lost all my clothes, lol. I did come in a strong second on kill count list, though, with 135 kills. So, even though I died a lot, I did a lot of damage too. 🙂

Someone in the group wanted to do Fire on Thunder Peak, so I posted for one, and we did a second run after it, but I gave Bruder the star. I was feeling drunk and very unfocused, so I didn’t want any responsibilities anymore. And before I was too tired to play we did an FoT run. I must say I can’t remember much of the run at all, lol, but I believe it was pretty smooth.

Okidoke, enjoy the pictures and that’s all for this time. I’ll try to do one more blog before I leave for my vacation.

Cheers.

Special raids this Sat

Friday I decided to run Thazara for the 1st time since I eTR’d her, so I did eH/ eH ADQ and VON. I was surprised as how much damage she was doing compared to other 1st life toons I’ve played. She was burning sp like crazy, but I was able to solo rooms in eH ADQ at lvl 20, which I feel proud of. I have had previous toons/ builds that were not able to. Thazara got lvl 21.

On Saturday I logged at 8 pm, and posted for ADQ flag (on Cerge), and strangely quickly got a group for Chains of Flame eH. We ran Wiz-king as well, and since I had blood from a previous run of An offering of Blood, I was flagged after the 2 runs. Osi logged just as we were finishing Wiz-king, and I left my party to join up with Osi. Osi’s toon is a completionist dc caster fvs, with 3x all the caster past lives. He plays his toon well, and has solo’d most ee’s, including Tor and Belly of the Beast. Osi gets a bit bored with the easy standard runs, so this Sat he decided that we were gonna 6 man all raids. We started with eH/ eE ADQ, then eH/ eH VON and eE Chrono. I think I was the only one to die in eE ADQ2, and in VON no one died if I recall. Chrono got a bit messy as we were trying to do some of the opts and ppl go split up, but again Cerge was doing a lot better than I expected. With the runs Cerge got xp for half way to 23, starting at lvl 20 when I logged.

Weekends we do raids

I have been neglecting Thaz, my plan has been to cap Crusader on Thaz and then start eTR’ing, but because I wanted to do 20 runs of Deathwyrm and 20 of Thunderpeak on Cerge and Maidae, Thaz hasn’t been run much. So I decided to bring her out for our weekly ADQ and VON. Oh, there is a difference when I play Thaz, and how I was playing Cerge as a bardcher. Cerge was dependant on his manyshot, his melee didn’t hit as hard, so in ADQ pre I progressed rather slowly. Thaz on the other hand runs til red alert, the nukes the room. Sort of how I played my sorc, lol. This tactic bites be in the behind if I lag, or the mobs hit me harder than I expect, but it worked fine this week. And short man ee ADQ raid worked out well too, I believe it was a flawless run, and Thaz even tanked the queen when she was raging.

I finally got Osi dragged with me into Thuinderholme, but he only had time for one Deathwyrm run, then we did ee Chrono and he left for the night. Chrono was pretty standard, I find it boring, so I’m usually not in any hurry to get in, lol.

Raid night May 17

On Friday night we (co workers) had a farewell celebration for three ex employees, and I had a few drinks, but left early cause I was tired. Saturday I went in to the office to do some extra work, and because of it I didn’t have time to do all my household chores before raid night, but anywho.. I logged something like a quarter to 9 my time. If you’ve been following my blog, you know I talk about raid night a lot, lol, or my raids in general. I like raiding, and since U21 I’ve been raiding almost daily. But raid night is still raid night.

I was talking with a twitter friend some days ago, and he asked if he could tag along for my raids this week, and I said sure. Me and Osi normally start with ADQ and then let who ever wants to stay stay, and put up the lfm for the free spots. I do this if the group is decent. If on the other hand the group sucks, I just drop group and put up the lfm again. I have not done that too often since Osi started raiding with me, though. 🙂 Anywho this sat as I logged, ppl were already waiting for the raids, lol, and I got a party invite to a group of three. I waited for Osi to put his lfm up, then posted for mine, and the group filled quickly. I had planned to screenshot all runs this Sat… but I was tired and forgot. 😦

We did the normal raids, and this week Osi was switching back and forth between his toons, which was mildly annoying, as he never said “switching”, but just logged off… and I wasn’t sure which toon he was switching to and therefore not which raid he wanted to do. Another problem I was having was that I can’t use push to talk while typing on the lfm… I kept trying to move the focus away from the lfm window  so I could use push to talk, and I got the lfm window stuck. The dialogue for “do you want to close the window without saving…” something, sometimes gets stuck for me. I have moved the focus away from it, and can no longer target it to click yes/no, and cannot use push to talk or focus on chat. :/ I think I remember getting out of it by clicking on an npc, but this time I got stressed out and just relogged.

Raiding and more raiding

Friday I was planning to finish flagging Maidae for CitW, but @HouseDJ2010 caught me on Twitter and told me he wanted to run with me, so I suggested we do some favor runs. It was  pretty good, Maidae is a Cetus build and DJ was running a Cetus build too, so House D favor for the House D vendor is useful for us both. 🙂 When he logged I asked Osi to help me run CitW flag, and we did Sshyn ee.. before Osi was tired. I can now not remember if I ran something after that, lol.

Saturday I spent all day doing houshold chores and then logged on at 9pm for mine and Osi’s raid night as usual. I ran most raids (except FoT) in a levelling ED, to finish them off. Osi chose for us to start with ADQ (eH/ eE) and then gave me star. I typed 1: CitW, 2: FoT, 3: ToD, 4: VON, 5: Chrono, and then rolled d5 /roll d5. It gave me 2, so posted for FoT. As usual, I just typed in party chat what we were running and lfm’d for the last spots. Quickly we had a full party. I put our paladin on SR tank, but I kept stealing aggro fury-shotting him, lol. But it worked out fine. Me and Osi always have a lot of fun during raid night. After FoT I posted for ToD, and then gave Osi star for CitW… but we did VON first. He threw it back for me for Chrono, lol. I have no problem lfm’ing, but we both give the other the star if we wish to go afk for a moment. I was running in a leveling ED, still I was the 1st in in ee Chrono and had started it, lol. Osi logged after Chrono and I posted for Deathwyrm and then Thunderpeak. I can’t remember now how many runs we did, but I was tired after a while and went to bed.

Glada Vappen

Today is last of April, which is celebrated in Finland, and some other European countries (see Walpurgis Night). In the lower grades in school, they organize a carnival/ masquerade/ parade, which I always disliked, lol. Like I dislike getting dressed up for Halloween (which for us is a much newer thing). Anywho, ppl burn bonfires or just party on last of April. A couple of years I just went to a rave style club, last year I did nothing. 🙂 This year a friend of mine wants to party, so party it is.. and no ddo.

I felt like it’s been a while since I wrote a blog, so here’s my blogging, lol. Last weekend I ran Cerge a lot. Saturday night me and Osi did our Saturday night raid marathon like always, we did eH/ eE ADQ, eH CitW, eH/eH VON, elite ToD, eH FoT, and eE Chronoscope. During Chrono Kudesnik sent me a tell, and I asked if he wanted to run VON, so after Chrono, I posted for another eH/ eH VON, and Cleazy joined. I had planned to post for Thunderholme raids when Osi logs, but since Cleazy wanted come, and he was not 26 yet, we ran a Jungle of Kyber too.. and then Thunderholme. Osi and I don’t drop group and repost like Cleazy used to, but we tell the party what we’re planning to run and ppl can stay or leave, and many ppl usually stay, so we had a full group for all the raids.

Sunday has been my xp’ing day, so when I logged on on Sunday I posted for xp runs, starting with VON1-4 eE. My guildie Jedli joined me, and then Cleazy, Shao and someone else, I forget now. After VONs we did Demonweb eE, Don’t drink the water, eH/eH ADQ and then over to eStar 1-2 chains also eE. Cleazy was getting really tired so he dropped group at some point and was replaced. Deli and Shix joined us in eStar. \o/ 🙂 And after those runs I posted for eE Chronoscope, and Thunderholme raids eN. I usually switch to Fury ED for Thunderholme, but this time I completely forgot and ran them in Crusader. Turns out it wasn’t that big of a deal and I got Crusader to level 5. Cerge has most ED’s capped and this week I’m expecting to finish capping them. A few more raids and then I plan to eTR + TR again.

Okidoke, ty for stopping by, I got to get back to work.

Happy Vappu and cheers.

It was a raid heavy weekend

I used to do these weekend blogs where I gave a short run down of every run that I did during the weekend, but I can’t imagine ppl finding it that interesting, especially not since I usually do the same raids.  I’ve been doing my weekend raid marathons since spring/ summer 2012, and Osi’s been running them with me since a little while after I joined Gli Egypt. Since I recruited Jedli into the guild, he’s been raiding with me too. 🙂

Anywho, sometimes I lfm for the raids, sometimes Osi, sometimes we just throw the star back and fort “u do it, I’m gonna go afk/ relog”. Me and Osi’s raids this Saturday were: eH Citw (this one I recorded, see DDO eH CitW with pug (on lvl 27 bardcher) ), eH/ eH VON, elite ToD, ee Chrono, eH/ eE ADQ and eH FoT. After FoT I wanted to do Firepeak, so I lfm’d for that and Osi logged off. Since I wanted to keep Cerge’s hard streak, I lfm’d for hard… and then sat down outside the raid to wait for joiners. It was slow going, I was bored.. but then we filled and got going. It was a good run.

More pug raid videos

I said in one of my videos that I’d like to make more pug raid videos. Last weekend I recorded ee Chronoscope and eN/eH VON. Both with pug. I.e. I had Osi, and the rest were random ppl hitting the lfm. Both are pretty easy raids, so I went with my common rule “first come, first served”. Chrono went as normal.. except my little blunder of falling of the air ship, lol! eVON was more messy, with ppl not wanting to do stuff to help out, and VON6 bases took forever to sort (we might have had some 1st timers), but all in all we completed so all’s well that end’s well, right?

Here’s the footage:

Thank you for stopping by and happy hunting.
