Upgrade tome of supreme ability

So.. a few months ago I bought this upgrade tome of supreme ability +6 to +7. I can’t remember if it was on discount or not, but at the time I wanted it. As it was rather expensive, I only bought one. In my experience, so far when I’ve bought supreme ability tomes, it has been one tome that can be used by one character, that meets the right criteria. I knew both Cerge and Maidae met said criteria, but since I plan to do various classes on Cerge, I figured he would have better use of it.

To my surprise when I clicked on the tome to use it, a barter window opened that said “Ability score upgrade bundles”.

Cerge capped

It’s been a a good few weeks since I was able to play several hours on a Sunday. This week/ today I was and I took the opportunity to xp Cerge. He was at a bit over 6 mil (had just taken level 28) when I started and the goal was to cap. I decided to start with eH Wheloon, and I had Godscraft with me to get him some ED xp at the same time. Doobrey joined, and after we finished Wheloon, I let him suggest quests and chains for us to run. We did Two-toed Tobias, Von4, Druid’s chain, Gianthold and then VON3 and Wiz-king on eH, and Cerge was capped. I think it took  about 5h and we weren’t really speed running as I was dualing and we had a few first timers join that needed to be guided to the quests.

The idea was to cap and TR, but since I haven’t finished the build plan for his next life, TR’ing will have to wait a little.

Lag, virtual servers and xp

Not too long ago ddo moved their servers to a new data center. As I understand it, Turbine also moved ddo to virtual servers. So far so good, virtual servers is what all the IT companies are doing, so that shouldn’t be the issue. But, as Flav says, Virtual servers aren’t easy, and running an mmo on virtual servers can cause a lot of problems. This is what I believe is what we’ve been seeing in ddo since the server move. The game server is now communicating in a different way than it was before, and the staff at Turbine has had to do their best to get things running as they used to.

Since the server move, lag has been awful. Many of the raids I used to run were close to unrunnable, and I pretty much quit on EEraids. The idea of EEraids was to try and get a static raiding group together so Thaz could eventually get her EE favor for the top level raids. She’s currently missing MoD and Shroud. But with the lag, I didn’t even want to try. Instead I’ve been focusing on real life and xping instead.

Turbine has been doing regular server restarts, trying reduce lag, but for me things are still worse than before the server move. I’ve been dualing Cerge and Godscraft in my EE saga runs, and when I hit AOEs and spam magic missiles on Gods, my game gets choppy. It didn’t use to. Raids I’ve almost quit on, as I really don’t want to spend time waiting to fill a group and then fail because of lag.

As you might know, Godscraft is not my build, it’s my friend’s shiradi sorc from a couple of years ago. When he took a break from playing, he let me use his toons. I wasn’t going to do anything with them at first, but then wanted to try playing a shiradi.. only to decide to maybe get some gear for his toons and use them for dual boxing. I’ve slowly started to get the hang of Godscraft, and I’ve been playing him instead of Cerge during Cerge’s eTR. That is, I dual them, but most of the time leave Cerge piking, while I run the quest on Gods. Gods was also missing a lot of xp for his EDs, so that’s why I have been bringing him along when playing Cerge.

I don’t always like dualing, as it slows me down a bit, but I’ve come to enjoy it more and more of late. The chars offer different skills, and allow me to do things without having to wait for the right char to join my lfm. Usually I lfm too. Gods is earning xp, and he soon has enough TP so I can buy him the next ddo pack.

I do have two multi accounts of my own, but the chars on the accounts are side builds that aren’t really planned. Gods used to be a really good build, but now he’s outdated and doesn’t have the best gear. I hope to get him some better gear soon.

Cerge eTR 7

I did one quick von 3 run and capped Cerge tonight, after which I eTRd. As per usual, I’m posting this to record dates etc of reincarnations. This time I eTr’d the divine sphere. Here are Cerge’s before and after pictures:

Cerge actually has long red hair this time around, but due to the bunny hat that he wears, you can’t really see it. Anyway, that’s all for this time. Tc.

Cerge eTR 6

Cerge was the first on my characters to get the armour he wanted from the U29 raids. After that I wasn’t too keen on running him in them, I’d only run him if the other two were on timer. Anyway, after a good long while at cap, I finally got around to eTR’ing. The 6th eTR gave Cerge his 3rd Doublestrike feat. Here are his before and after pictures.

🙂 he didn’t change much now did he? lol. He lost his fake tan and now his hair and eyebrows are dark brown instead of orange.

EEraids 34

It’s been over a week since EEraids 34, and I’m only now getting around to posting about it. EEraids 34 was Saturday December 26. We did EE Deathwyrm and EE Fotp and after that, Short helped me flag Cerge for Legendary Shroud. Deathwyrm was… a bit tricky this week, as there were several ppl in the group who either didn’t know the raid well enough, or just wasn’t listening. I had Short help me sort the problems as well as we could. The raid took a bit longer than usually at 69/ 74 min. I noticed last time I did these raids that the clock does not stop when the raid finishes, so depending on when I took the screenshot, the time will differ.

EEraids 33

I’ve been away several Saturdays this fall/ winter, so I’ve skipped a lot of raid nights. But last Saturday (Dec 12) it was time for raids again. I put the lfm up a bit before 8.. and didn’t get any joiners, so I logged on a dual account to finish flagging them for doj. But before I had a chance to get very far, I had 4 others in the group, so had to boot the other account.

It didn’t take long before we had a full group and got going. But already at the second puzzle we started lagging and I called a restart. Second try was a bit better. Due to the restart, the party was much more together, and we did the trapped room. This path has changed since the last time I remember doing it. It used to have re-spawning mobs, now there were no mobs at all, just high dc traps. I think the guys who were trapping said you needed at least 102 for a success. For the second selection we ended up doing red light – green light. It was a lot less painful that some of the runs have been. Of course there were a lot of deaths, but no near wipe.

Cerge and the dracolich

For the end fight I wanted the party to drop the ragers, as we usually do. The problem, no one in the party had that much experience in it, so there was a bunch of trial and error before they got it done. But once they did, the raid progressed quite smoothly. The shadow side only needed 2-3 tries before they found the real phylactery and soon after we finished. My quest reports shows 72 min, but this is because the screenshot has been taken after everything was looted. The actual completion time was 69 min 4 s.

EEraids 32

This week I did not even have the lfm up, when Short started sending me tells about him and a few of his guildies joining the raids. I was having some home made pizza (lol) and didn’t want to put the post up until I was done. Anyway, I put the lfm up when I was done, and was immediately joined by short and a few others. I told them I did not want to start until we were at least 8. I didn’t have to wait too long before I had enough ppl to start, and shortly after I had a full party. We progressed well, and we didn’t need to go back and get anyone. I had said at the start to say asap if you get lost, as I will not baby you or think for you.. but that we can come get you if you just say so.

EEraids 32 – Temple of the Deathwyrm

We got the jump room and tower and in the end fight we found the real phylactery on the second try. I believe this was our fastest completion so far, with 45 min.

EEraids 31

Last week we were having a party for Darth’s birthday, so I didn’t do the raids, but this week I was back at it. I posted a bit early. Osi sent me a party invite when I logged on, but as I wanted to do my raids, I told him no, and didn’t accept. Right after I put the lfm up, Durk told me he’s bringing a few ppl to the raid, and not too long after I had a full party and we got started. We got as far as the last puzzle, when we lag froze and almost wiped. I called a restart. As I was coming back to Thunderholme, I got stuck in the loading screen and decided to kill my client, which in turn got me stuck in “Cleaning up old connection” – mode. Took me longer than I would have wanted to get back in and once I did I had lost 4 ppl.

EEraids 30

Last week the raids were a bust. I had my lfm up for EE Deathwyrm for about 3 h and I only had 3 ppl join in those hours, of which all left after a while. I was dual boxing with friend’s account, flagging his toons for doj, so I wasn’t in that much of a hurry, but when I started to feel like I was too tired to run the raid, I took the lfm down.

This week things were a bit different. I was getting ready to get back to flagging friend’s toons for doj when I suddenly had 4 ppl in the party (+ me and friend’s toon)… so I quit the flagging thing, booted friend’s account and waited for a few more. When we were 9 in the party I decided to get started. Some of the party members did really well, others kept dying… so I didn’t feel that confident about the run, until I had a full party. Getting to end fight was a bit of a struggle, but not impossible. For the end fight, Grandern took lead of shadow side, I was on dragon and Khyleeh and Arrienne did the death lords. It took us a bit to find the real phylactery, but in the end we finished after 82 min, with 52 deaths.
