Firetha’s story -> May 19, 2017

This is vol 2 of Keonna’s story that I posted January 19, 2013. Keronna, which means spell keeper in elvish, started out as a half-elf cleric with sorcerer diletante on the Cannith server. On Cannith we were running a 5 man group for a while, but soon we were down to 3. My friend Cat joined us and we were 4, but then Cat and Ness left, and it was just me and Rilosa. Before this, though, we had leveled past the heroic cap, done some epics and raids and TR’d. For Keronna’s second life I really wanted to try an undead staffer.. so I made her into a wizard-monk.

Now that I think of it, I can’t really remember much about the static Cannith group. We played together once a week for a couple of hours, we progressed slowly, didn’t acquire much gear and didn’t raid much. The few times I did host a raid, my character felt weak and the server natives didn’t know me or run raids the way I’m used to on Orien. When both Cat and Ness left the group, I felt that progressing would become a lot harder with just me and Rilosa, as neither of us ran a very high dps character at the time. So, after not too much hesitation, I decided to move Keronna to Orien to benefit from the gear and guild I have there. Rilosa soon followed and became part of my and my sister’s static group.

Things changed when Keronna moved to Orien. First I had to change her name, as there already was a Keronna on the server (although, I’m not convinced that there was). Since she had had an elvish name, I wanted her to still have that. I settled for Firetha, which in elvish means dark healer. I found it fitting as Firetha was a palemaster at the time, i.e. healing from dark spells. Then I capped her EDs and did a few raids before I decided to TR into her next life.

For Firetha’s third life I decided to make her an elf air sorc. I had seen some videos of how powerful one of those can be, so I wanted to give it a try. She turned out as a squishy mana drain who only did some of the dps I had seen on YouTube. I wanted more, and that’s when I decided that I was going to turn Firetha into the first character of mine to do a heroic TR train, TR’ing at 20. I started with wizard lives, of which Firetha needed 2. As I write this Firetha is on her third and final wizard life, after which she will be a sorcerer again.

Leveling a wizard solo in heroics was slow and tedious, so for her current life I’ve been leveling with a barbarian that I created on one of my alt accounts. Of course this limits me a bit, as that account does not have access to all the same content as my main.

Anyway, here are some old posts from Cannith:

Firetha’s videos:
Keronna/ Firetha

Since I’m not a big fan of running low level heroics, and since I’m dual-boxing my TR, I basically only run Firetha when I’m too low on time to run one of my other characters, or when the mood hits, which isn’t that often. Due to this, Firetha’s levelling is going rather slow, yet not as slow as it did on Cannith.

So, what does the future hold for Firetha? Currently I don’t really know. There’s no long time end game plan for her, as she was made as a just for fun character. I’ve been making it up as I go along. For the time being the plan is just to do 3x caster lives, after which we’ll see.

Dualboxing TR

As I was xping one of my characters the other week, Short told told me to dual box for TP. I didn’t that tine, but as I TR’d Firetha, it hit me that I could create a leveling buddy for her on one of my alt-accounts.. earn some TP for that account and make leveling the wizard easier. So, I made “Smashbaby Trapfinder”, a barbarian. 🙂 So far I’ve been enjoying this character a lot.

That’s all folks.
Thank you for stopping by.

Firetha TR 4

The last TR I did on Firetha happened October 6, 2015. It took me over a year to get her to 20, mainly because I don’t really like running heroics, especially not the low level ones, and I would only play her when I only had time for one quest or so.

She finally hit 20 two days ago and yesterday I spent my game time cleaning her TR bank. Today I TR’d. I will be doing exactly the same build as last time, for her 3rd wizard past life. Here are her before and after pictures:

Reincarnation mapping

Here’s something little I’ve been working on. As some of you know, I enjoy looking at the history of my toons, and remembering what I’ve done. I also keep dates and screenshots in my blog through blog posts. Now I’ve made a spreadsheet of all the reincarnations my characters have done. I have made the spreadsheet publicly viewable, click on the image below to open the sheet in a new tab.

🙂 that’s all folks. Thank you for stopping by. And have a great day.

Firetha TR 3

Last night I was thinking I would just eTR Firetha (so I would remember to do it before TR) and then run some quests on Thaz. But as I was done with the eTR I said to myself “meh, I’ll just TR now”… I went to the reincarnation grove, did the procedure, logged out to get my screenshot, restarted client… and huh? I did not have a button for reincarnate. I logged back in again and tried again, and I had to look at it twice before I realised where I had gone wrong. TR cache! I’ve been mainly eTR’ing of late and didn’t remember that doing a TR means you have to empty it, lol. So I spent my time doing that before finally getting to do my TR. Here are Firetha’s before and after. And as always, the creation cave does not give you the real colors. He hair was supposed to be light blue.. but now it’s only gray. Oh, and the before screenshot is from the last TR. I forgot to screenshot her before this TR.

That is all I have for you today. Cheers

Firetha 4.0

I finally got around to doing 20 doj runs on Firetha and planning a TR build for her. My idea is to do 2x wizard lives just 1-20 on her. As I will play my other toons as well, I don’t know how fast I will be able to TR, but this will be my first time actually meaning to do just 1-20 leveling. Only time I’ve previously TRd at 20 was when cap was still 20. I did one TR on Maidae back then.

Here is the draft for my wizard life/ lives

EEraids 16 – a failure

Sometimes hosting a raid can be really hard. I started hosting raids back in 2012, because I didn’t see the raids I wanted to run on the lfm. Not when I wanted to run them anyway. Over the years, each time a new raid comes out.. I try to join someone else’s runs a few times to learn the raid before I start hosting my own. Often I also try to join a few different groups to see different tactics and I come up with my own tactics based on what I learned. I do adjust the tactics with time, and I allow ppl in my groups to suggest changes to my tactics, even though I may be hesitant to change at first. Sometimes change is good, other times what works for one group may not work for another. I have to pick tactics for a specific run based on the skill level and abilities of the party members.

Anyway, this week I posted for EE Deathwyrm as normally. Someone convinced me to let them join, even though it was their first time. It’s not really an issue for me that someone is new, as long as they don’t become a liability, as long as they can keep up, kill stuff and follow instructions. In a raid like Deathwyrm it can be rather tricky though. We had some problems. The way up til the end fight was ok, we ended up doing red light/ green light room, and Jedli said to me in guild chat “we’re low on dps”, which I could already tell from the time it took us to beat down the ragers in red light/ green light. Getting to the end fight, my rager guy was afk, another had entered late and was dead in red light/ green light. The only one sturdy enough to take ragers was the new guy.

I’m always up for a challenge, but this was already starting off bad. New guy get the ragers’ aggro and falls down… other guy comes back and grabs them and then goes and gets the two ppl that are missing. Jedli has dragon, and I told everyone else to focus on killing trash and death lords until we have everyone back up. This alone is a challenge and ppl die. We struggle onwards and some how get the shadows to spawn. First attempt on shadow side, me, Ero and Lob go in, I get into portal and dragon side wipes and we get kicked out from shadow side. We get ppl back up, lob goes in, then I and me and Lob continue until we actually manage to finish shadow side and get the shards.

It’s all purple

I have been playing with my post-processing* setting turned off since Wheloon came out. I just couldn’t stand the purple, and with the post-processing turned off, it wasn’t as purple. Of course, it made it a bit tricky to know which side you were on when running Mirror Darkly, but anyway. Then my laptop that I was playing on broke, and I had Darth assemble a stationary for me. Yes, I know, assembling a PC isn’t really that hard, but I had paid for somewhat good stuff, and wasn’t really interested in trial and error. So, I let Darth do it, as he’s been playing around with hardware a lot more than I have.

Anyway, with the new computer, I didn’t remember to turn the post-processing off, and wasn’t even aware I had it on, until I ran Deathwyrm for the first time**. Shadow side was frickin purple and very hard to see.. but I took it as a challenge to fight my way through. But then… last weekend I ran What Goes Up.

When the Shadovars spawned, I could not see anything. Well, as you can see in the picture, I could make out a bit of the ground, and if you look closely, myself. The shadovars weren’t auto targeted, so I really couldn’t see them. I ran this quest first time with a group and second time solo. First time I wasn’t even able to locate a single shadovar before my party had killed them. I should have taken a picture of the world with the post-processing turned off for you to see the difference.

I am unsure of what the Turbine devs were thinking. Are we really supposed to play the game like this?

Note: I’m playing on very high (ultra high) graphics settings, I wonder what things look like for others with lower settings

That’s all, thank you for stopping by and have a great day.

*post-processing is a checkbox under Settings and Graphics.
**actually now that I think of it, I think the post-processing automatically turned back on in one of the patches, as I had it off on the new computer
