Since we were at a concert the week before, there were no raids, but last Saturday I was back at it. For Tempest’s Spine (LTS R2) I got intelligence quickly, but strength was again shining with it’s absence, so when we were almost full one of the party members switched to a str character so we could get started right away. Up until fire & ice we were good.. but then it turned messy. I guess I have gotten used to a few strong casters in the group who can take out the reaver and flenser quickly, but this time people were dying alot, and we just failed at timing over and over again. I was getting frustrated trying to organise without actually telling everyone where to go. Somehow the fire side then got fire pulled closer to the shrine, and I yelled at them to stop and leave him alone (til we could clear trash to ice). We were still dying, but somehow got trash down enough, so when fire mistakenly went down, we were able to kill ice off in time.
I was maybe 10 min late for my raids last week, but nothing big. I put the lfm up and slowly people started joining. The problem was that several of the joiners were lower level than I would have wanted, and when a 3rd cleric joined, I decided to switch to Maidae instead. I let anyone interested join until the last spot when I realised we still didn’t have a strength character for the levers. The arti’s dog was about 10 points too low, so he started looking at ways to get the str up. I left the lfm up for str, but in the end we used the dog, as non of the players had str.
Fire and ice was no messier than normally, a few deaths but we had good people and down they went. A couple of people got left in ice, but managed to run past the mobs to get to the rest of us. The dog did a good job on the levers and we finished off the mobs on the way to the end fight ok. The end fight was slow. Not only was it slow, but Sor’jek reset twice. One player got blown off and died and the decided to leave the party. We were low on dps, and after the second reset, I think more than one person went afk of boredom. I felt like there weren’t too many of us left attacking after a while. I had switched to auto attack, hitting adrenaline, fury and manyshot as well as my other action keys every so often. It took us over an hour to finish. Some named items dropped.
I was a little bit late last Saturday, and posted for R2 LTS at about 3.15 pm EST (I try to always post at 3). The group was slow filling, and it wasn’t until one of the last few spots that we got strength. The group filled before we started, and I waited for most before running to the front door. This time I didn’t die, in fact things went really smooth up until the end fight. Most of the party stayed in the safe spot, yet Sorjek reset once. He fell down and then reset. I don’t know what caused him to fall down or if the reset was because of the fall or if one of the party members got knocked off. The end fight was anyway long and boring, but eventually Soejek went down. We finished the raid in 30 min, and I didn’t die at all this run. A few named items dropped.
I posted for R2 LTS a few minutes after 9 pm my time (3 pm EST) last Saturday. Haleyh joined as my first party member, and we had intelligence, Jedli as 5th and we had str. A few minutes later we were ready to start. This was my first TS since Thaz’s eTR and me changing her bracers to a pair of crafted ones. This was also the first time in a long while that I died running to the front door. Normally I fireshield and then heal 0-1 time during the run. This time I took 3-4 fireballs to the face and dropped… and got rescued. In fire & ice I died again, I ran to fire and had to get rescued, fire ran off and I think ice needed to die twice. After fire died, I rushed back to the room with the rune to make sure it had opened. The rest of the raid went pretty well. I had most of the party stay in the safe spot during the end fight and and Sorjek didn’t reset. We finished in 26 minutes.
I eTR’d Thaz July 30th, and then I was away last weekend, so raids were cancelled. I was trying to get Thaz back to cap before this week’s raids, but didn’t quite make it. I didn’t want to run Thaz in RSO without the level 30 ring I made for it, so I decided to run Maidae instead. I posted for the raids (Tempest’s Spine) at exactly 3 pm EST, and I somewhat quickly got a few joiners. I was a bit worried that I would have issues getting joiners posting on another character than usually, but my worry was in vain. It took 15-20 min to have enough people to start. Fire and ice went really well and we were quickly on our way to the end fight. We managed to do the end fight without Sorjek resetting this time. The raid finished in 24 minutes.
I posted for R2 Tempest’s Spine as per usual at 3 pm EST. I didn’t have to wait too long for joiners, but with 4 spots left, we still din’t have anyone to do strength and intelligence. In the 9th spot our str char joined and then Niv sent me a tell asking if we needed an int char. I said yes, he joined and off we went. The party filled as we were in progress. I may have been playing a bit sloppier this time, or maybe my party was less aggressive than it usually is, but I died at least twice in ice this time. But my party was awesome as always and we didn’t really have that much issues to finish that part. Usually, in the end fight I de from Sorjek’s lightning attacks, but this time he shot me with an arrow at least twice. We finished in just under 30 min.
As you may remember, one of my video series also include solo raids. My plan is to record myself soloing all the raids that are possible to solo. I had been thinking of which raid to do next.
So far I have done:
- Legendary Tempest’s Spine
- Tempest’s Spine (this one way over level though)
- The Shroud
- The Chronoscope
- Tower of Despair
- Zawabi’s Revenge
- Fall of Truth
- The Reaver’s Fate
- Titan Awakes (though through multiboxing)
That leaves a whole bunch of raids I haven’t even attempted, and some that are impossible to do solo.
Since I know people who claim to have solo’d Caught in the Web, I decided to give it a try, expecting the legs to be the hardest part. In the end, the hardest part was the last Lolth fight. I had so much trash that I didn’t want to kill off, and when I got Lolth down to about 50% she suddenly went back up to 100%. I noticed that she was killing trash to get her hp back. Not sure I’ve seen this before. After using a bunch of pots I realised I had to kill all the trash as it spawned, as I as fighting Lolth. This kept her from regenerating. I also got the gate to the end open without realising it at first so had to redo it.. but I didn’t need to go south at all for some reason (we always kill the necromancer last and he’s south).
In he end I ended up using a total of 10 heal pots and 15 mana pots, but I completed with 0 deaths. Sadly I forgot to screenshot the experience report, but I did record the run. Check out my video here or on YouTube.
That’s all folks. Thank you for stopping by.
Last week I was away so didn’t host any raids, this week I was back again with the plan to do at least Tempest’s Spine and Riding the Storm Out. I decided to post for TS reaper 3 just after 9 pm my time. At first it seemed like I would have to cancel the raids, but then Haleyh and Klorox joined, and it didn’t take too long before I had enough players so we could start.
Things seemed fine up until end fight. We completed fire & ice with the normal amount of deaths (yeah, I died in ice as I usually do), and no one got lost or left behind. We get to end fight and people start dying. Max wondered if Sorjek’s hps were going down at all, but it was just that were were lacking in dps due to deaths. I got blown off at least 3 times and had to run back. Two of the times I ended up near entrance and once time I died and had to be rescued. When Sorjek was down to only a few percent hp, he walked too close to the left pillar and reset…
We were already low on resources and this was an additional blow. At least we managed to always have someone on the platform, and the reset didn’t happen again. After 59 minutes he finally went down an we got our loot and xp. To me the reaper xp was not worth the additional pain that R3 caused us, so next week I’ll be doing R2.
I posted for reaper 1 skull Legendary Shroud at exactly 9 pm (3 pm EST) last Saturday. The party was slowly filling, but at 10 to 10 we were still missing a hurler and I decided that if we don’t get one by 10 pm, I’m going to switch to Darthwolf and let someone else have the last spot, which was saved for the hurler. 10 o’clock came, and I switched. Things were going somewhat ok, quite laggy but was progressing.. until we again failed to take out a portal keeper and failed the raid. So we retried on LE instead.
December 14, 2012 I wrote a blog post called Maidae’s Story. A lot has happened since then. My plan back when I first made Maidae, was to make an end game monk, so I asked on the ddo forums, “what do I need to do to make an end game monk?”. I was told that I need 3 monk past lives and maybe one barbarian. That is where I started out.
The game has since then changed, and monks have changed. A pure melee monk wasn’t as good anymore. I still stuck to my plan, I did 2 monk past lives and one barbarian before switching to iconics and TR’ing at cap. I also did some epic past lives inbetween. Someone told me I also need fighter past lives, so I added that to my plan.
I think Maidae has been my favorite character for a while. I loved her as a pure monk back when, I liked her as a barbarian. I didn’t quite like her during her first fighter life, because it was a Cetus copy, and not my own. I liked her the most during her handwraps fighter-monk life (the life where she did 6 epic past lives), and I am enjoying her a lot as a monkcher. Maidae is probably the char I’ve done the most solo videos on as well (or at least raid videos).
Here’s the list of Maidae’s reincarnations:

What does the future hold for Maidae? Currently she is working her way through solo raids, and is going to do some epic reincarnation… maybe when Cerge has reached cap and can take over as my second capped character. Since the game has changed so much, I believe I will need to do some paladin past lives as well for heal amp. She is a monk this life and will most likely be a fighter next life before doing paladin. Other than that, we’ll see.
