I posted for R2 Tempest’s Spine as per usual at 3 pm EST. I didn’t have to wait too long for joiners, but with 4 spots left, we still din’t have anyone to do strength and intelligence. In the 9th spot our str char joined and then Niv sent me a tell asking if we needed an int char. I said yes, he joined and off we went. The party filled as we were in progress. I may have been playing a bit sloppier this time, or maybe my party was less aggressive than it usually is, but I died at least twice in ice this time. But my party was awesome as always and we didn’t really have that much issues to finish that part. Usually, in the end fight I de from Sorjek’s lightning attacks, but this time he shot me with an arrow at least twice. We finished in just under 30 min.
As you may remember, one of my video series also include solo raids. My plan is to record myself soloing all the raids that are possible to solo. I had been thinking of which raid to do next.
So far I have done:
- Legendary Tempest’s Spine
- Tempest’s Spine (this one way over level though)
- The Shroud
- The Chronoscope
- Tower of Despair
- Zawabi’s Revenge
- Fall of Truth
- The Reaver’s Fate
- Titan Awakes (though through multiboxing)
That leaves a whole bunch of raids I haven’t even attempted, and some that are impossible to do solo.
Since I know people who claim to have solo’d Caught in the Web, I decided to give it a try, expecting the legs to be the hardest part. In the end, the hardest part was the last Lolth fight. I had so much trash that I didn’t want to kill off, and when I got Lolth down to about 50% she suddenly went back up to 100%. I noticed that she was killing trash to get her hp back. Not sure I’ve seen this before. After using a bunch of pots I realised I had to kill all the trash as it spawned, as I as fighting Lolth. This kept her from regenerating. I also got the gate to the end open without realising it at first so had to redo it.. but I didn’t need to go south at all for some reason (we always kill the necromancer last and he’s south).
In he end I ended up using a total of 10 heal pots and 15 mana pots, but I completed with 0 deaths. Sadly I forgot to screenshot the experience report, but I did record the run. Check out my video here or on YouTube.
That’s all folks. Thank you for stopping by.
Last week I was away so didn’t host any raids, this week I was back again with the plan to do at least Tempest’s Spine and Riding the Storm Out. I decided to post for TS reaper 3 just after 9 pm my time. At first it seemed like I would have to cancel the raids, but then Haleyh and Klorox joined, and it didn’t take too long before I had enough players so we could start.
Things seemed fine up until end fight. We completed fire & ice with the normal amount of deaths (yeah, I died in ice as I usually do), and no one got lost or left behind. We get to end fight and people start dying. Max wondered if Sorjek’s hps were going down at all, but it was just that were were lacking in dps due to deaths. I got blown off at least 3 times and had to run back. Two of the times I ended up near entrance and once time I died and had to be rescued. When Sorjek was down to only a few percent hp, he walked too close to the left pillar and reset…
We were already low on resources and this was an additional blow. At least we managed to always have someone on the platform, and the reset didn’t happen again. After 59 minutes he finally went down an we got our loot and xp. To me the reaper xp was not worth the additional pain that R3 caused us, so next week I’ll be doing R2.
I posted for reaper 1 skull Legendary Shroud at exactly 9 pm (3 pm EST) last Saturday. The party was slowly filling, but at 10 to 10 we were still missing a hurler and I decided that if we don’t get one by 10 pm, I’m going to switch to Darthwolf and let someone else have the last spot, which was saved for the hurler. 10 o’clock came, and I switched. Things were going somewhat ok, quite laggy but was progressing.. until we again failed to take out a portal keeper and failed the raid. So we retried on LE instead.
December 14, 2012 I wrote a blog post called Maidae’s Story. A lot has happened since then. My plan back when I first made Maidae, was to make an end game monk, so I asked on the ddo forums, “what do I need to do to make an end game monk?”. I was told that I need 3 monk past lives and maybe one barbarian. That is where I started out.
The game has since then changed, and monks have changed. A pure melee monk wasn’t as good anymore. I still stuck to my plan, I did 2 monk past lives and one barbarian before switching to iconics and TR’ing at cap. I also did some epic past lives inbetween. Someone told me I also need fighter past lives, so I added that to my plan.
I think Maidae has been my favorite character for a while. I loved her as a pure monk back when, I liked her as a barbarian. I didn’t quite like her during her first fighter life, because it was a Cetus copy, and not my own. I liked her the most during her handwraps fighter-monk life (the life where she did 6 epic past lives), and I am enjoying her a lot as a monkcher. Maidae is probably the char I’ve done the most solo videos on as well (or at least raid videos).
Here’s the list of Maidae’s reincarnations:

January 28, 2017 Solo (multibox) Titan raid and preraid
What does the future hold for Maidae? Currently she is working her way through solo raids, and is going to do some epic reincarnation… maybe when Cerge has reached cap and can take over as my second capped character. Since the game has changed so much, I believe I will need to do some paladin past lives as well for heal amp. She is a monk this life and will most likely be a fighter next life before doing paladin. Other than that, we’ll see.
Last Monday (Jan 23) I decided it was time to do a recording of how I solo or multibox the Titan raid. I’m currently running 3 characters that all have a specific purpose. Maidae is the main runner, being an archer makes killing mobs easier. Godscraft is good in the underwater puzzle because he doesn’t breathe, and he has d-door (to get back to green puzzle after underwater is done). Zendarth has a pet wolf that I use in the green puzzle. For the raid itself I use Maidae as crystal runner and laser controller, Godscraft parks the titan (if he can get aggro) and Zendarth breaks the pillars.
The preraid is getting easier and easier. I haven’t quite learned where the levers are that I need to pull to open the way forward before the first head, and I still need wiki for the green puzzle, while I learned the underwater puzzle so I don’t need to look at the walkthrough for that one. The raid itself is a lot more fun when I’m in charge of the laser, as I’m more aware of everything, than when I used to join someone else for this.
Check out the video below.
Hope you enjoyed that 🙂
Ty for stopping by.
I had decided that I was going to lfm for the Titan raid last Monday – if any of my guildies would join. I had done a few practice runs on my own, and two with the guildies. I also did one lfm where I posted for the raid once I has completed the puzzles in the pre. This time I posted before I stepped in.
I had practiced multiboxing the raid by running Maidae as my main, and Zendarth and Godscraft as my assistants. This time I put up two lfms, Maidae as the raid group and Godscraft as taxi. I parked Godscraft in Restless Isles wilderness to teleport joiners to the Forge, after converting Maidae’s group to a raid group. Once you are a raid group, you can no longer enter Restless isles wilderness, but would have to teleport from a raid instance.
I promised my guildies I was going to host a Titan raid. The problem was that I’ve never known the puzzles well enough to guide a party. I did a trial run a few week ago, didn’t plan the pre very well and messed up the raid. This time I had a much better plan. I ran Maidae and brought Godscraft and Zendarth with me.
I started with purple and red crystals – to get to the underwater puzzle. The underwater puzzle requires 3 people. After finishing the puzzle, Maidae killed off the golems, and abundant stepped to the levers near the barrier. She could open the first barrier – red, before hitting a black one – a lever that must be pulled elsewhere. Godscraft and Zendarth d-doored back.
Once getting back to the head that gives purple and green, both of them throw the purple to pick up the green instead. One can only carry one per head. Zendarth then completes the green puzzle with the help of his druid dog, and pulls the lever. Gods kills of the trash to the next head and picks the blue crystal, Zendarth takes the yellow.
Maidae can now open the purple barrier, Gods opens blue and green and Zendarth the yellow. Before continuing they all loot the underwater chest.
Before getting to the raid, there is still some trash and a mindflayer to kill. The whole party needs to be on the platform with the mindflayer before starting the fight.
Then on to the raid itself. I placed Gods and darth by the machine that controls the lazer, while Maidae ran up and shot the top of the pillars. When she was done, she buffed up, hit manyshot and adrenaline and got the titan’s hps down to less than 1/3. She grabbed a crystal from the bottom floor and headed up to the machine. Before putting the crystal in, the titan had to move and the lumberjack needed to be in place. Since I’ve noticed before that the titan has a thing for godscraft, I placed him on the tile where the lazer was, to get the titan to move there. darth got to be lumberjack. When the titan was in place (had to move gods twice as the titan threw him back), Maidae put the crystal in, darth broke the bottom of the nearest pillar so it fell on the titan, and Maidae hit the button to activate the lazer. One hit was enough, and the titan’s shield went down. Maidae finished him off with her arrows.
\o/ my first ‘solo completion’.
I intend to do one more practice run before I start hosting titan raids.
Week 10 of LE/EE raids was on Christmas Eve. In Finland, and I guess Sweden too, we celebrate Christmas on the eve, usually with dinner and presents. I stopped celebrating a few years ago, mostly as a protest to consumerism, and Darth isn’t really a big fan of this holiday either, so we basically just spent the day at home. I was on call for work til 4pm and did a bunch of chores before sitting down in front of the computer for LE/EE raids.
I figured it would be hard to get a group together for LE Shroud, all of my regulars were away.. so I posted for “LE Shroud. Need self-sufficient dps and a hurler. LH if poor dps”. There wasn’t a lack of interest, but after I had let a few people join who were level 26-28 (I normally only want lvl 30s.. except for the hurler that can be lower), I decided to switch to hard. I even had to turn one person down, so I suggested I would do a second run on Thaz after the run on Maidae.
Maidae is a wisdom based monkcher this life, and I’ve been redoing and redoing her enhancements, trying to figure out the best way to do them. During LE/EE raids this week, I realised I had completely forgotten about the +20% doubleshot that I would have needed to have. Since Maidae’s an elf (morninglord), I had the choice of elf AA capstone, or Deepwood Stalker tier 5 enhancement. I spent a good long time last night looking at how many aps the different things would cost me. I needed 8 points in Henshin Mystic for Contemplation. To get elf AA capstone I needed 15 points in Morninglord tree + 41 points in AA. I also wanted to take wisdom x 4, which would cost 22 ap at the least, and 2-4 points in Warpriest for Divine Might… I realised there just wasn’t enough points for everything I wanted, if I decided to go for capstone.
My other option, Deepwood Stalker would require 32 points in that tree, and meant I didn’t need to put points in Morninglord at all, which saved a total of 23 ap, and I even managed to get a bit more dodge and prr. I am looking forward to give Maidae another try in LE Shroud next week.
