Schoan, Valdayanie and Jarvanna have not done a whole lot of raids, mostly due to the fact that we don’t really play these characters outside the group and Schoan has had a lot of problems with lag in raids. As we hadn’t done Legendary Shroud together, I suggested I’d post for a normal run, and I did. We quickly got a few joiners, and when I felt we had enough to start, I suggested we run short man. My character felt terrible in the run, and I brought Evilynnn with me as a piker, which did cause a bit of distraction for me. The raid progressed slowly, but over all it was a good run.
My static group, Valdayanie, Schoan, Jarvanna.. and my piker Evilynnn have been doing our very first EEs of late (the characters’, not the players’). We just finished up the demon web last night, and I suggested we do a Caught in the Web. I decided on normal, as our characters aren’t maxed out and we’re running in off EDs. I had just switched to Grandmaster after capping Sentinel. I posted for the raid on the lfm, but we started just the 3 of us, well I did park Evilynnn at the start too, so she’d get a completion, xp and give us more loot.
Things were progressing nicely, the first Lolth fight, the legs.. even the optionals. We got a few joiners and things got easier. Ana was getting a bit beat up though. As we get to the end area, I figure since it’s only normal, we can fight up top. I forgot to tell the party to gather behind the rock. “It was only normal”, caused chaos, ppl died, fell off, we lost Ana and someone had to bring her back. The person leading her back got her as far as the ramp before he fell off. I grabbed her so she could activate Lolth and then went to fight Lolth, while the rest of the party was fighting trash and getting back up. Once most of the trash was taken care of, ppl came to help me with Lolth and we finally got the raid to progress. Getting the portal keepers prepped was a bit of a challenge, but not really as difficult as getting the trash taken care of, and finally Ana went through and we could gather in the end area. I also got Evil there.. but forgot to open the chests on her until after most had left. Luckily she didn’t get anything but trash, so nothing to pass to other players. A few comms dropped and Valdayanie got the rapier.
The static group characters don’t get a lot of love. We run together at the most once a week, and currently we’re running in off EDs to try and cap them out. I suggested we cap all our EDs before TR, but we’ll see if that actually happens. This time I wanted to attempts a short man Legendary Tempest’s spine. I spent a while crafting a str item for Jarvanna so she could do the str levers (yes my gimpy druid didn’t even have 47 str), and I brought in Godscraft for the int rune and Evilynnn just as a piker/ raiser.
As you may remember, one of my video series also include solo raids. My plan is to record myself soloing all the raids that are possible to solo. I had been thinking of which raid to do next.
So far I have done:
- Legendary Tempest’s Spine
- Tempest’s Spine (this one way over level though)
- The Shroud
- The Chronoscope
- Tower of Despair
- Zawabi’s Revenge
- Fall of Truth
- The Reaver’s Fate
- Titan Awakes (though through multiboxing)
That leaves a whole bunch of raids I haven’t even attempted, and some that are impossible to do solo.
Since I know people who claim to have solo’d Caught in the Web, I decided to give it a try, expecting the legs to be the hardest part. In the end, the hardest part was the last Lolth fight. I had so much trash that I didn’t want to kill off, and when I got Lolth down to about 50% she suddenly went back up to 100%. I noticed that she was killing trash to get her hp back. Not sure I’ve seen this before. After using a bunch of pots I realised I had to kill all the trash as it spawned, as I as fighting Lolth. This kept her from regenerating. I also got the gate to the end open without realising it at first so had to redo it.. but I didn’t need to go south at all for some reason (we always kill the necromancer last and he’s south).
In the end I ended up using a total of 10 heal pots and 15 mana pots, but I completed with 0 deaths. Sadly I forgot to screenshot the experience report, but I did record the run. Check out my video here or on YouTube.
That’s all folks. Thank you for stopping by.
Last Monday (Jan 23) I decided it was time to do a recording of how I solo or multibox the Titan raid. I’m currently running 3 characters that all have a specific purpose. Maidae is the main runner, being an archer makes killing mobs easier. Godscraft is good in the underwater puzzle because he doesn’t breathe, and he has d-door (to get back to green puzzle after underwater is done). Zendarth has a pet wolf that I use in the green puzzle. For the raid itself I use Maidae as crystal runner and laser controller, Godscraft parks the titan (if he can get aggro) and Zendarth breaks the pillars.
The preraid is getting easier and easier. I haven’t quite learned where the levers are that I need to pull to open the way forward before the first head, and I still need wiki for the green puzzle, while I learned the underwater puzzle so I don’t need to look at the walkthrough for that one. The raid itself is a lot more fun when I’m in charge of the laser, as I’m more aware of everything, than when I used to join someone else for this.
Check out the video below.
Hope you enjoyed that 🙂
Ty for stopping by.
I had decided that I was going to lfm for the Titan raid last Monday – if any of my guildies would join. I had done a few practice runs on my own, and two with the guildies. I also did one lfm where I posted for the raid once I has completed the puzzles in the pre. This time I posted before I stepped in.
I had practiced multiboxing the raid by running Maidae as my main, and Zendarth and Godscraft as my assistants. This time I put up two lfms, Maidae as the raid group and Godscraft as taxi. I parked Godscraft in Restless Isles wilderness to teleport joiners to the Forge, after converting Maidae’s group to a raid group. Once you are a raid group, you can no longer enter Restless isles wilderness, but would have to teleport from a raid instance.
I promised my guildies I was going to host a Titan raid. The problem was that I’ve never known the puzzles well enough to guide a party. I did a trial run a few week ago, didn’t plan the pre very well and messed up the raid. This time I had a much better plan. I ran Maidae and brought Godscraft and Zendarth with me.
I started with purple and red crystals – to get to the underwater puzzle. The underwater puzzle requires 3 people. After finishing the puzzle, Maidae killed off the golems, and abundant stepped to the levers near the barrier. She could open the first barrier – red, before hitting a black one – a lever that must be pulled elsewhere. Godscraft and Zendarth d-doored back.
Once getting back to the head that gives purple and green, both of them throw the purple to pick up the green instead. One can only carry one per head. Zendarth then completes the green puzzle with the help of his druid dog, and pulls the lever. Gods kills of the trash to the next head and picks the blue crystal, Zendarth takes the yellow.
Maidae can now open the purple barrier, Gods opens blue and green and Zendarth the yellow. Before continuing they all loot the underwater chest.
Before getting to the raid, there is still some trash and a mindflayer to kill. The whole party needs to be on the platform with the mindflayer before starting the fight.
Then on to the raid itself. I placed Gods and darth by the machine that controls the lazer, while Maidae ran up and shot the top of the pillars. When she was done, she buffed up, hit manyshot and adrenaline and got the titan’s hps down to less than 1/3. She grabbed a crystal from the bottom floor and headed up to the machine. Before putting the crystal in, the titan had to move and the lumberjack needed to be in place. Since I’ve noticed before that the titan has a thing for godscraft, I placed him on the tile where the lazer was, to get the titan to move there. darth got to be lumberjack. When the titan was in place (had to move gods twice as the titan threw him back), Maidae put the crystal in, darth broke the bottom of the nearest pillar so it fell on the titan, and Maidae hit the button to activate the lazer. One hit was enough, and the titan’s shield went down. Maidae finished him off with her arrows.
\o/ my first ‘solo completion’.
I intend to do one more practice run before I start hosting titan raids.
Here’s a little something I’ve been working on. I was going to wait to show it until it was finished, but seeing as it’s taking me a bit longer than expected to finish it, I am just going to show it as it currently is. My plan was to do a flagging video for every raid in ddo that requires flagging, and to solo as many raids as I can. Click on the picture below to view the spreadsheet.
I will re-post this once it is finished or as close to finished as I can get it.
I’ve been working on a raid spreadsheet where I will add links to my videos, and I realised I did not have any video of Tempest’s Spine, heroic or legendary. I thought about it, and since Maidae is my solo raider, I figured it should be her that does the soloing. I started with a recording of the heroic version, which I just ran through, even did did some of the optional chests.
The legendary version required a bit more preparation. There’s at least one intelligence rune you need to be able to activate to get forward, and I needed around 37 int to be able to do it (34 was too low, 37 success). I checked all the chars I had available on alt accounts, and there was only one that could do it, Godscraft. Maidae could do the strength herself. I did several attempts where I for one reason or another decided to recall and restart. In one I booted Godscraft before the second rune, in one I didn’t bring my bells for the locked doors, and in one the phone rang, so I decided to start over. It was I believe try 5 that I decided to complete the run, and in that run I ended up with 4 red named optionals in the same room, which slowed me down.
I wanted to do a full run with all 3 runes, so I did. Since it’s a raid and not a quest, it was important to stay alive, and to not get tossed in the end fight. Some rooms had me worried, but the mobs don’t hit that hard on normal, so the run was a bit slow, but no real fear of dying. Having improved evasion and somewhat decent prr helps of course. Check out the videos below or go to my YouTube channel to view them in full screen.
Thank you for stopping by and have a great day.
After the server hall move, ddo experienced an unusual amount of lag.. to the point where raiding just wasn’t fun anymore. I decided to take a break from raiding. For weeks or even months, ppl have been telling me that the raids have been playable again, but I just kind of lost the drive for raiding. But.. this Saturday I had a cup of coffee and sat down with the plan to do multiple raids at 8pm UTC+1. I posted for legendary elite Tempest Spine, and quickly was joined by a few ppl. Suddenly I had too many ppl talking/ typing at the same time, and I was getting lost trying to make sure everyone got their questions answered and that I had the right characters for the tasks I needed.
After a bit of waiting, I decided that we had enough ppl to start.. and while we were heading to fire and ice, the last spots filled. We struggled a bit in fire & ice, but the rest of the raid went well.
