Thazara’s gear Sharn edition

I’ve spent quite a few evenings farming Sharn with Hamster, Osi and some others, and there are still a few items I’d like to have to finish my gear. I did, though manage to finish my set with what I currently have, and update the spreadsheet. Check out tab August 9, 2019 by clicking on the image below for the latest gear setup. Click on the other tabs to see older setups.

Just a short blog to post something different from the raids blogs.

I might do another ‘this is my cleric’ video at some point, if I have the time and energy.

That’s all for now.
Thank you for stopping by.

Thazara’s gear, Ravenloft edition

The last post I did about Thaz’s gear was posted April 15. Since then I’ve adjusted and readjusted her gear several times and I realised it’s getting difficult to keep track of it all. So, I decided to make a spreadsheet, and since I also wanted to also keep track of her old gear setup, I decided to do a new tab each time I do a major gear swap.

Here is Thaz’s spreadsheet. Click on the tabs to view old and new setup. The spell power and crits down below show her different values depending on offhand weapon. Higher spell power lowers dcs, lower spell power higher dcs. The intent was to get the Adherent set without losing too much of what she already had. Click on the picture to view spreadsheet.

Regearing Thazara a bit

So, several new quests have been released and Thaz’s gear hasn’t been updated in a while. I looked at her gear and how to improve it. Ravenloft has a lot of nice gear, but some of them would lose me things that I can’t get anywhere else, so I couldn’t switch them out, for example the spell lore on embers and the impulse on earthen mantle.

This is what I came up with. I also want to point out that Thaz has the following tomes: +7 con and wis and +6 the rest.

Goggles: Visions of Precision with Mythic Goggle Boost +1, augments: Topaz of Fear Immunity, Golem’s Heart
Head: Epic Halcyonia, augment: Globe of True Imperial Blood
Neck: Epic Noxious Embers, augments: Sapphire of Resistance +8, Diamond of Insightful Intelligence +2
Trinket: Epic Litany of the Dead, augment: Diamond of Festive Wisdom +2, Diamond of Festive Intelligence +2
Armor: Platemail of the Celestial Sage with Mythic Armor Boost +2, augments: Sapphire of Spell Agility +15, Diamond of Vitality +20
Cloak: Legendary Earthen Mantle, augment: Draconic Soul Gem
Bracers:  Legendary Lore-Fueled Packbanner, augment: Sapphire of False Life +40
Belt: Legendary Plateshard Belt (Belt), augment: Diamond of Concentration +13
Ring 1 (always on): Legendary Chieftain, augment: Sapphire of Good Luck +2
Boots: Supreme Tyrant Green Steel Boots of Concordant Opposition (Blindness Immunity, +150 sp)
Gloves: Gauntlets of the Arcane Soldier, augments: Diamond of Dexterity +8, Diamond of Strength +7
Ring 2 (possibly swap): Legendary Brazenband, augment: Topaz of Greater Evocation
Main hand: Dusk, the Light Descends, augments: Meridian Fragment. Sentient gem with the following filigrees:  Embraced by Light: Healing Amp, Embraced by Light: Light Spellpower, Embraced by Light: Wisdom, To Hell and Back: Spellpower, To Hell and Back: MRR, Grandfather’s Shield: Healing Amp, Grandfather’s Shield: PRR
Offhand: Libram of Silver Magic, augment: Ruby of Devotion +138

Leathers of the Celestial Sage, spell dc does not work

I just learned today that the spell focus on the  Leathers of the Celestial Sage does not work, at least not for evocation. Short tested it and said it works for necromancy, transmutation and illusion, but not for evocation or conjuration. This post on the forums also mentions this bug, and says that it was already noticed on Lamannia.

I spent weeks farming for this armor for Thaz, and feel rather disappointed that it does not work. Wearing the thunderforge armor with +1 dc, I’m at one higher than when wearing the leathers at +2. I took some screenshots to see if I have anything that it might just not be stacking with.

Thaz has a greater evocation augment. Don’t mind the outdated ring. (she also has a +6 evo stick from thunderholme that I forgot to screenshot)

Here’s Thaz

Thazara just hit 28 after her first epic reincarnation. This is the first toon I ever played past level two, and very early on I decided never to do a heroic true reincarnation on her. But since epic reincarnation was released I decided to do those on her, possibly all of them three times. Thazara’s story starts in the first week of August 2011, as a very gimpy wrongly built melee cleric, to later be changed into a melee caster and then a pure shiradi caster. With the changes to the divine EDs, I switched her main ED from Shiradi to Exalted Angel and with the first eTR her build from proc spammer to light dc caster. I still spam spells, though but rely on spell dc and power instead of Shiradi procs.

I have noticed people checking out my old Thaz blogs, and since I feel they are very out of date, I would like to show you where she currently stands on build and gear. You can see the build plan here, but for a quick overview, her starting stats were: str 8, dex 10, con 14, int 14, wis 18, cha 8. Thazara is an elf, so that’s why I started with 10 dex and 14 con. 14 int is to give me a bit more spellcraft. Heroic feats: Empower Healing Spell, Follower of the Sovereign Host, Empower Spell, Maximize Spell, Heighten Spell, Quicken Spell, Spell Focus: Evocation, Mental Toughness. Epic feats: Greater Spell Focus: Evocation, Epic Spell Focus: Evocation, Epic Destiny: Epic Spell Power: Light, Epic: Great Wisdom, (Epic Destiny) Epic Destiny: Mass Frog.  All stat level ups in wisdom.

Here are her enhancements:

Regearing Thazara

I decided that I needed to upgrade Thazara’s gear. I wanted the blue dragonscale armour, which would lose me all the stuff on the +8 cha spidersilk robes, and I had to figure out how to reslot it. After working on it a bit, here’s my current set up:

Aah! Gear!

😦 I thought I had it all figured out. I just got my unsuppressed Vibrant purple ioun stone and here’s what I had planned:
Greater cunning trinket –> Unsuppressed Vibrant Purple Ioun stone
Archmagi pirate hat –> Minos Legends
Alchemist’s Pendant –> Symbol of the Shining Sun
Heavy Fort Belt –> Belt of the Sun Soul

But but but… What I didn’t realize was that 1. the cunning trinket gives me +50 stacking sp. 2. Alchemists Pendant gives me +20 stacking hp. So, Doing my planned swap, I end up with the same hp as before and -50 sp 😦

Gear before swap:
Armor: Blue Dragonscale Robe
Head: archmagi hat, concentration+15
Neck: Alchemist’s Pendant
Trinket: Greater Cunning Trinket
Cloak: Magewright’s Cloak
Belt: Belt of the sun soul –> Heavy fort after buff
Gloves: Purple Dragon Gauntlets
Boots: Boots of propulsion
Bracers: Bracelet of Madness
Goggles: Concordant opposition gs goggles
Ring1: Greater false life
Ring2: Epic Ring of the Buccaneer tier 2
Shield: Epic Swashbuckler (Light) tier 2
Main hand: Epic Ornamented Dagger tier3 / Epic Brigand’s Cutlass (Scimitar) tier 2

Before I can swap out Alchemist’s Pendant, I need to make a tier 3 hp gs cloak, and before I can swap out my current cloak and use Signet of the Shining Sun, I need to upgrade my Ring of the Buccaneer to tier 3 and add greater false life to it.

Darn, that I didn’t realize that I was running around with +250 sp, and not just 200. And now I have a bound ioun stone that I might not even use. 😦 I did know there was sp on the cunning trinket, but I didn’t think it would drop my sp under 2000.

Thaz is lvl 21, currently EA 0, buffed with current gear 440 hp and something like 2050 sp (with the sun soul belt). If I swap back to US she’ll still have around 2000 sp but 640 hp. Call me shallow and elitist, but I want the +2000 sp and I want as much hp as I can get. Remember, Thaz is an elf with starting con 12, so she’s already an underdog there.

Maybe I’ll just have to put heavy fort on the gs cloak, keep using my archmagi hat and skip minos.

Over and out from Orien.
