Jarvanna hit 30 some weeks ago and now me, Schoan and Valdayanie (or little static group) have been focused on just gaining xp for our EDs. Valdayanie has been unavailable for the last couple of weeks, so it’s been just Jarv and Schoan. I wanted to try some EEs last week and we started with Lords of Dust. I was surprised at how easy it felt compared to expectations… I expected us to do poorly and maybe even fail. We continued with Servants and later Beyond the Rift, skipping Spinner, as I didn’t feel like dying a lot.
It’s already Thursday night and I’m only now doing the blog about last week’s raids. I did upload the pictures days ago, I just haven’t gotten around to writing the actual blog til now.
Saturday I was a bit late, maybe 15 min, and I posted for LE Shroud. I’ve for the time being given up on attempting to do reaper, as most if not all of my regular raiders are TR’ing. Weii joined me, and we waited… about 40 min before I told him “I give up” and posted for hard instead. He wasn’t convinced it would make a difference.. and it didn’t, much. We got 2 or 3 joiners in half an hour, after which I was quite bored with waiting, so I decided to post for TS instead. Reaper 2.
I posted for reaper 1 skull Legendary Shroud at exactly 9 pm (3 pm EST) last Saturday. The party was slowly filling, but at 10 to 10 we were still missing a hurler and I decided that if we don’t get one by 10 pm, I’m going to switch to Darthwolf and let someone else have the last spot, which was saved for the hurler. 10 o’clock came, and I switched. Things were going somewhat ok, quite laggy but was progressing.. until we again failed to take out a portal keeper and failed the raid. So we retried on LE instead.
This post is over a week over due, so I may not remember it all. For week 5 of LE/EE raids, I again ended up running Darthwolf in Shroud. The party filled and I said I’d either like a hurler or a healer, so Durk decided to bring his healer and I brought Darth. The run had quite a few deaths this time, but I didn’t really feel like we struggled that much. We lagged a bit in p1, but it passed.
After Shroud we did a quick LE Tempest’s Spine as well.
I’ve been trying to resurrect my EEraids channel, and with some added advertising, it’s actually been going really well. I think we had a good number over 20 people in the channel on Saturday when I logged on. Still, if it wasn’t for the Germans, I don’t think my LE Shrouds would be going anywhere. They’re giving me the dps and raid knowledge I need to succeed. My previous attempt was a failure, but every failure should be a learning experience.
This week I posted for LE Shroud at 9pm GMT+2 (3pm EST) and after my initial joiners we were struggling to get a full party. I started checking The Who panel for names I recognized and started asking people if they’d like to come join. I got a few joiners that way. After about an hour we were ready to start. I again took the role of healer and raiser, while keeping an eye out for trash spawns. Those nasty kobolds that smack you for over 1k. We struggled a bit, but nothing like my previous try, and it didn’t feel hopeless, and no near failure situations, except maybe a moment in p5. All in all a good run.
Some time ago I decided to work on Godscraft’s EDs, since he had a lot of them not finished or capped. I started bringing him along when I was leveling my own chars, but soon realised that I could take advantage of his skills so to speak. When I was leveling Cerge on his previous eTR I brought Gods along, and now when I decided to finally start leveling Thaz again I’m bringing him along. Though, he’s not so much tagging along, as he is doing most of the dps, and Thaz only steps in when Gods is facing mobs that Thaz handle better.. or he runs out of sp.
Since Gods is almost done with his EDs, I didn’t feel like I wanted to give him a spot when I had ppl interested in joining me.. but when my lfm was up with no joiners, Gods helped me quest. We did Impossible Demands, The Unquiet Graves and The Lost Thread before I had to log off due to rl. Below are some screenies from The Lost Thread. Gods did most of the killing, Thaz did the collars (because her concentration is more than enough compared to Gods’), and the room with Eldrin Szind since she could handle the mobs in there better than Gods could. Thaz also lead Ana.
Due to my lack of time lately, I haven’t been putting up lfms as I used to, but have mainly been soloing. This because I would only run one quest per night, and I didn’t want to lfm for just one quest. I did, though, put up an lfm for Lords of dust chain last friday, and had some good runs. I also joined an lfm for EE Chrono before running the Eveningstar quests. Anyway, back to the solos. On Thursday I finished the house D chain EE solo and today I finished the first Eveningstar chain. I was complaining to Short about how crappy my character has been feeling, and he gave me some pointers as how to improve. With some changes, I feel that the quests were going better… but the champs were still killing me. Have a look at screenies below.
It’s been a while again since I wrote a post. I’ve been quite busy with rl, lots to do at work and I’ve adopted a few more degus that take up a bit more of my evening time. When I have been playing I’ve been soloing with my the main char on my third account piking. Or I started doing that when I realised she had/ had access to the packs I wanted to run. It’s only been an hour or two each night, and me missing some nights too, so leveling has been slow.
When Cerge hit 20, but Genmaicha was still 18, I decided to hit IQ.. starting with In the Demon’s Den. I’ve only run that quest once before, so I was curious to see if I could solo it. I quickly realised that 1. I needed a trapper to get past at least one of the traps (the first one) and then, even after killing everything and prepping the djinn, I still needed at least one more person to help me kill the djinn. I noticed that the djinn respawned in the time it took me to run from killing one back to center. Anyway, I put up an lfm, quickly got 3 joiners and we finished the quest no problem.
Finally, after 4 weeks of no sat raids for me, I was ready to host another one. I posted for Deathwyrm at 8pm my time as usually, and it was very slow at first. Then slowly ppl started joining and it wasn’t before too long that I had a full party. I don’t remember now if I waited to fill before starting, but I know I didn’t wait for everyone to get to the raid. Anyway, the group was pretty good and we got maze and tower. The funny about the maze/ archives is that even though I explain how to do it, ppl get lost. I asked if ppl have d-door and know how to do the maze.. but even though ppl had d-door, they didn’t want to or knew how to do it so I just said “ok, ppl with d-door, follow me”. I picked right portal 6 times, and didn’t even need the d-door. Since I’m right handed, I tend to prefer going right, lol. It doesn’t really matter.
Someone dc’d, someone got left behind and someone was piking, but we progressed at a good speed, and the only bad lag we had was in the bone guardian room. When the trash spawned, we started lagging badly. Or I was anyway. Yet, I don’t think anyone died, and we managed to kill the guardian in the first try. Coming to the end fight, I took the dragon and I told Emmilie to lead the shadow side. He asked me if we should do one or two at a time, and I said he can do what ever since he’s in charge. I was just sitting on the dragon… well most of the time I was hanging on the wall on the other side.
We had some deaths, and with the change to the xp bonus for deaths, the quest report no longer shows how who died and how many times. This is a big negative for me, because looking at the quest report I could see how squishy some ppl were. Now I can not. We finished in 57 min.
And then it was the 19th time I posted for EEraids. It was slow going at first, I expected to have to wait an hour again or so.. but suddenly ppl started hitting the lfm and I had a full group before we entered. Two of the joiners told me it was their first time… and even though I don’t like taking first timers into EE, I also don’t like waiting an hour or more for a full group, so a couple of first timers is ok. I explained the basics to them, “help with mirrors if you know them but don’t turn the beam until the puzzle is done and call beam before you do.”, “run away from your stone if you die”, and “try to keep up, we will be running fast”. We got the jump room and one of the newbies needed a carry, and the guy that was going to carry didn’t know how the portals work. When you step out from a portal, you will always have the one back behind you. This means that when you step back through the portal in the jump room, you have to turn 180 degrees to go back out to the mirror room, as you will be facing the 3 doors. I believe it took this person 3 or more tries before he listened to me and got it, lol.
