Firetha 3.0 draft

I decided that for Firetha’s next life I would like to do a pure sorc, air savant. I’ve been looking at Farwind: An Air savant Endgame EE DPS Build and I’m trying to put my own twist on it. Firetha will be a 3rd life toon only and will only have one epic past life, so things will be a bit different. I am looking at Farwind’s spells, and I think I want to chose a little differently. I would also like to do drow instead of human.

I’m thinking the following:
Start stats: 20 cha, 14 con, 16 int (for skills).
Feats: empower, maximize, quicken, heighten, spell focus: evo, spell focus: enchant, past life: wiz, greater spell focus: evo, epic spell focus: evo, epic spell power: electricity, ruin and hellball.
Skills: concentration, spellcraft, heal, UMD… any extra points in bluff and diplo

In the initial draft I have selected some spells and enhancements, but will most likely redo then when she hits 20.

  1. You may want to consider swapping quicken for mental toughness or some other feat. I find that sorcs cast quick enough that they don’t need quicken. Granted if you don’t take quicken then you want to invest some skill points in Concentration since they are fast casters, but can still be interrupted.

    Also, with my latest sorc I took 3 levels of paladin to get great saves and +20% hp, since I run around in with an adamantine docent and a large shield. I haven’t noticed it impacting my DC’s, but I’m much harder to kill now.

      I don’t take quicken on my casters for casting speed, I take it to avoid getting interrupted. Concentration check is relative to the damage you take, so the only way to be sure not to fail is to have the spell quickened.

      It has been a while since I played a sorc, and my last one wasn’t very good, I hope my Thaz experience will help me.

      Do you run EEs and raids on your sorcs?

      • Mistress handles EE quests and raids just fine. She’s a 15 sorc/3 pally/2 fvs.

        The casting speed on sorcs is quick enough that I rarely get interrupted and my build is an AOE killing machine, so I’ll gather up till dungeon alert and then start killing.

  2. It’s a modified Shiradi build. I mainly use Delayed Blast Fireball, Energy burst and firewall for my DPS, but have Magic Missile and Chain Missile for if I run out of SP or they are immune to fire. I’ve lately been playing around with Electric Loop SLA for the same situation.

    It’s funny with this mix it’s possible to get you current SP higher than your Max SP, due to a timing bug.

    • 🙂 k k. where are your dc’s at?

      I’m trying to stay way clear of shiradi, I’m trying to make an evoker with enchant as secondary. Will be tough to get enchant high enough to be useful.

      • Not sure what my DCs are, but if you only take 2 levels of pally your DC’s only be 1 lower from max, but would gain great saves, extra PRR/MRR and 5 oh beep buttons(lay on hands). If you only take 3 levels of pally you’ll lose 1 more DC, but you’ll gain +20% hp. If you take 4 levels of pally you’ll have the same DC’s as 3 levels, but you’ll gain +6 to Con.

        To get the +20% HP/+6 to Con you need to have a shield or medium armor or higher. You can meet that requirement with a buckler if you are worried about spell failure or if you do like me I wear heavy armor and a large shield to push my PRR/MRR to 100+, but have to spend some points to lower my spell failure to 0.

      • I think for a shiradi, that doesn’t rely on dc casting anyway, that kind of splashing prolly works fine. For a max dc build I think it hurts more than you gain. I don’t really have the past lives to pull this build off that I’d like to do, but I mean to attempt it anyway.

  3. Hey Micki, looks like a fun and interesting build. I’ll be curious to see how you feel it does. The evocation spells are fun to throw around, so I’m interested in seeing how well they do for you.

  4. Note: I plan to drop quicken for spell focus: enchant, and go enchant route instead of evocation. The spell list will be adjusted for the levels as well. Be build plan is not the final idea, will post an update once she hits epics.
