Clonking again

πŸ™‚ Oh, my, I haven’t posted in a while. What’s wrong with me? lol.

Had to take a break from DDO because of family visiting, but got to do my Friday Cannith and clonk night πŸ™‚ This toon’s turning out pretty interesting. She’s 5/1 cleric/monk and I can’t wait for the next level when she gets her radiant bursts. She’s at about 107 hp and 338? sp. I haven’t been using any ship buffs, but only using her own buffs (or in Proof is in the poison we used the Twelve pots). She has her 3 eternal wands, but I also just got +4 wraps and +2 str bracers, so I’m using those, fire stance and a bull’s str wand and am unarmed meleing with monk strikes πŸ™‚ I saw her punch up to a 38 (her acid splash wand hits for about 16).

We ran the first 4 tangleroot chain quests as a trio with 2-3 hirelings (2x fvs + cleric), and after, me and the rogue duo’d with hires Freshen the air and Proof is in the poison. I was wearing a new robe, +3 robe of minor cold. Has a 50% chance of dealing 1d4 of cold damage? Don’t believe I’ve seen something like that before. Gotta be new from the update. I did get a similar robe of acid from Proof is in the poison. πŸ™‚ You gotta love rogues’ (or others’) repeating crossbows. Has saved my butt loads of times. When the rogue suggested those two quests (elite of course), I said, “we’re not gonna make it, I have failed with a full party before”. “Or are you gonna kick butt for the both of us?” Well Freshen the air went very smoothly. Hires kept us healed, we took out ranged first and got through it with a lot of time left on the clock (us two lvl 6 toons, elite).

So in we went into Proof is in the poison. And man those casters hit hard and red names even harder (harder than before?). I believe they’ve also made my hire Storm more stupid since the update. He just wouldn’t get out of the way when someone was blasting him with lightning. At one point both hires died and I was out of mana for heals πŸ™‚ But, I did have a wand, and was regenerating enough for small heals, so we made it nicely to the shrine (later I managed to die because I was out of mana and had a moment of mind block, where, how, what?). But the boss fight went imo very nicely πŸ™‚ The rogue was running around with the boss after him (repeating crossbows tend to draw aggro), and I could just stand on the side and use my wand (wands don’t miss unless the object is blocked or out of range). And woohoo! The quest that is a pain in the butt in most pugs (I’ve been avoiding it since I ran it on my monk), we managed to finish as a duo πŸ™‚ My clonk def kicks butt XD (well rogue too, lol)

Tc and see you in game.

P.S. I need to get some new pics of Keronna

P.P.S I was earlier in the day soloing Beyond the rift epic normal with my lvl 20 cleric. Got to underdark, aggro’d too many foes at once (I was feeling a bit bored, lol) and managed to die. I’ll prob bring a party next time for a faster run. I still haven’t been to Eveningstar. πŸ™‚

P.P.P.S. When I started playing DDO a year ago, I was running a cleric duo’ing with a rogue friend, and now again? LOL.

Welcome to epic destinies

No, this will not be a post on the epic destinies, lol, but on what I experienced after finally getting into the game after the update πŸ™‚

Welcome to the underdark

While I was waiting for the update to load, I spent some time reading the release notes on what’s different. I feared the part about the UI reset. What does that mean? Do I have do rearrange everything? After I finally got into the game I spent a long while trying to figure out how I wanted Thazara’s UI and quickbars to be. I mean, she has 15 quickbars in use. And how do you get the buffs icons to the right and not the left? Couldn’t figure it out, so I decided to let the be. Oh, my superior ardor VI clickies are now improved ardor with +15 spell power? What the heck does that mean? So, I also arranged some stuff in the bars and changed one of the spells (I realized I never use comet fall anymore since it’s so expensive, so better pick a spell I actually use)

Before doing anything else I logged with the other toons on Orien to set their UI as well, and then logged back with Thaz. Epic destinies. Need to pick one before doing any questing, so any xp earned will go into my new destiny. For divines the choices were Unyielding Sentinel and Exalted Angel. The first one for sort of melee types and the second for offensive caster types. Well I’ve made Thaz as caster, but it came down to the basic fact that the first one gives u a hp boost, the second a sp boost. I’ve managed well with the little sp I have, but Thaz is incredibly squishy, so I picked the Unyielding Sentinel. I got the Vigor of battle feat/enhancement, activated it and oh, wow! I suddenly have 100 hp more. Very nice, very nice.

Epic destinies

I was looking at the lfm and getting all confused with the new “active” and “expires” things. You use the instance to teleport somewhere? Huh? How does that work? Decided with a friend to join a pug for The Tide Turns epic. Oh, epics have difficulties now? I did read a myddo post about this, but I though it was only going to be in the new content. We had a bard for CC and the leader goes in on elite. The bard tells us, she’s only done hard, that she does’t know if she can do elite. We sort of lose a party member, the monk who just doesn’t seem to be coming, so we start without him (2 rogues, barb, bard and me, cleric). The first mobs turn out to be too tough already, maybe the CC failed or something? I’m saying over voice “this isn’t working, guys”. Why? Because party was taking way more damage than they were doing, I was having troubles keeping them healed, and if I’m using loads of mana already in the first fight, I won’t be able to get them through the quest. So, I just stopped healing and ran for cover πŸ™‚ Raised the ones who followed me in spirit form.

We regrouped, rebuffed and got a 3rd rogue to replace the monk πŸ™‚ Went in on hard. This was going a bit better πŸ™‚ The bard was doing a good job with cc and buffs, and kept me regenerating mana, so I didn’t even need the first shrine. Funny bit, though, we got to a trapped passage way, with blades and cold traps, 3 rogues, and no one could find the box. Heh. πŸ™‚ I waited, but since they seemed to just leave it, I timed it and ran. Got hit once by the cold, but made it through without a problem πŸ™‚ I also picked up a scroll apparently. I was busy adjusting something, so I didn’t even notice πŸ™‚ Need to check what scroll that was, lol. Anyway, things went well, we finished and I got 20k+

But now I’m wondering. How will these new levels affect shroud and other raids? E.g. will pugs limit raid member levels to 20? I wish to never TR Thaz, but I want do a minimum of 20 shroud runs for the cleansing stone. Does this mean that I’m gonna have to stay on lvl 20 for as long as I want to run Shroud, HoX, VoD, etc? I also have a bunch of quests I still want to run for favor (Reaver’s reach, devils battlefield, some IQ).

Thazara still needs more sp, but I can make her a sp gs item πŸ™‚ Well I plan to make sp and hp, and u can change epic destinies, can’t u?

Unbuffed Thazara’s hp is now 475 (previously 375). With ship buffs she’s at 495 hp and 1803 sp, and with party member buffs she’s up over 500 πŸ™‚ I’m very excited about this. Maybe I can even do an elite shroud now (still need more sp, though)?

Thazara:
Thazara

So, yeah. That’s my first impression of the update.

Tc, and see you in game.

P.S. Even though I have plans to TR Cerge, I want to get him an epic destiny. πŸ™‚ But I need to run the Web of Chaos chain first (apparently it’s a prereq). Hmm, Cerge’s lvl 16, and I want to do elite, wonder how that would work? I’m not raid flagging him, since he is hopefully my future completionist, so I have at this moment not much need to gather end game equipment (since he has many classes to go through, still)

Cerge rocks :)

Was running around Orchard with a a group, farming for rares this morning, before the server down time. Pretty good drop of taps too, got maybe 10. Cerge’s water savant and his cold spells are pretty awesome πŸ™‚ He only had a bit of problems with the cold skellies (must remember not to heal them). Don’t know if you remember me mentioning in a previous post that his cold spells crit for 600+? Well I have a new number for you (should have take a picture):

(Combat): You hit Zombie Shepherd for 841 points of cold damage

Pretty nice, no? πŸ˜€

Tc, and see you after the update.

DDO Sunday

My Sunday started out pretty disappointing. First I couldn’t log on to the game. After waking up I figured I’d run a few quests before doing other things, but no. I kept getting timed out when the client was trying to connect to the authentication server. So, I just did other things first and gave it another try in the evening, and yay! was able to log on.

I noticed a party for Genesis Point on the lfm looking for a healer, and I convinced them to run elite (since I wanted the favor). I don’t think I’ll be doing that anymore. First run I DC’d in the middle of battle and party wiped. Second run we lost the wizard and a few fights later the party wiped. Of course I feel it’s my fault, since I wanted an elite run, and couldn’t keep the party alive and healed.

After this I joined a party doing eDA and had to convince the party leader that my low sp isn’t a problem. Well, first round seem to take forever and the wizard ran out of mana. I did drink a few pots, even though I didn’t want to. I was still mostly aura healing, which was good. Party stayed close to me and close together. Second round party scattered. I tried to tell them over voice “stay together please, for mass” but I don’t know what happened. Suddenly I had devils beating on me and had to get away and heal myself, while trying to figure out where everyone was (I hate it when cures/heals fail, because someone is blocked or so). Safe to say I died pretty quickly. I was yelling “help!” over voice πŸ™‚ Got a raise and went down pretty quickly again. I take my job as a healer pretty seriously, and I feel like a complete failure when I don’t manage to keep everyone alive and healed. But everything depends on the party. I need to be safe and the melees need to stay close together for mass heals for me to heal efficiently (in quests like eDA), and the party can’t be sucking up all my mana, especially in long fights.

I was pretty bummed out after 3 fails, but decided to jump on a party for Schemes of the enemy elite (the only quest I was missing to be flagged for LoB and MA). Lfm said something like tr’s preferred, but they let me join. πŸ™‚ Leader was pretty nice and came back to get me a couple of times when I didn’t know where to go, and party was pretty good (everyone was a tr but me). I was a little bit worried about the rogue having less than 300 hp, but he did fine. The only problem was that in the end fight he kept running around out of sight (and range) and then was asking for heals. πŸ™‚ I’m watching the hp bars and I see that someone needs heals, but I’m not gonna go running randomly to find one person (and checking the map takes too long when u have others to keep healed). Oh, but I did dc a second time in this quest, just when we were about to enter the boss fight (luckily before and not during). Felt like it took forever before I got back, but I did and we finished. πŸ™‚ And now Thaz’s flagged for LoB and MA (even picked them up).

Picked up a few nice items from there: Cannith Boots of Propulsion (x2), Fabricator’s Gauntlets and Tinker’s Gloves (x2). πŸ™‚ Boots and gauntlets for Thaz, the other pair of boots for either Maidae or Cerge and possibly Tinker gloves for Cerge’s next life (not sure if I need them).

πŸ™‚ Was considering joining a VoD party, but inventory, bank and AH was completely full (and I don’t like selling stuff cheap to vendors), so I had to do some inventory management (i.e. transfer stuff to a toon that has room on AH)

Anywho, evening ended much better than it started and now Thaz finally has her boots πŸ™‚ Yay! I also switched to the gauntlets, because they are better than the brawling gloves for her.

Tc and see you around Orien or Cannith.

Here’s something u don’t see every day

Ran a hard shroud with Thazara yesterday, and guess what I had on my end reward list? A +3 intelligence tome! The only problem was that it was BtC, and since I have no plans to TR Thaz, I really don’t need it. But this is the first +3 tome I have seen/ found in the game, so I kinda had to get it πŸ™‚ But maybe, I could LR her and change her starting int and add points to con and/ or cha? I don’t exactly know how it works with these tomes, does the +3 int tome mean if I LR her, her starting int will be 11, instead of 8? That would free up 4 points, and I could raise her con to 16 (starting 12 +2 tome) and cha to 12 (starting 8 +2 tome). This would mean more hp and more turns πŸ™‚

When you TR or LR with these tomes, are the maximum points per ability raised? I’ve never done a reincarnation (except the greater with Thaz before any tomes) with tomes added to the toon, so I’m not quite clear on how they affect the build. So, if I LR Thaz, will her maximum wisdom be 19 and not 18, since she’s read a +1 wis tome?

Tc and see you around Orien or Cannith.

Cannith night

Yesterday was Cannith and clonk night again. I finally decided to buy the base version of MotU, since I do want to run epic destinies when they’re out. So base back meant 1 learning tome per server and an xp boost pot and spidey companion per toon. I named the spidey “Arraetrikos“. Not very original and I’m sure there are many Arraetrikos’isis running around Stormreach, but he’s the single most fought boss in ddo, so he deserves to have a tiny spider named after him, lol. Or maybe I just wanted the spider to seem more fierce than he actually is? πŸ˜€ Other options I considered were Aragog, Baby (from Dirty Dancing), Tiny (Huge creatures have a tendency be called Tiny) and Milou (Original name of Tintin’s dog Snowy).

I ran a pug Swiped Signet elite and that was just crazy. I was trying to help fight with my eternal wands, but people were rushing and I was having troubles keeping everyone healed. First try was a wipe, second try we had a bunch of deaths, but were victorious. With just the level 2 cures, I just couldn’t heal with spells, but was wand healing. I had several wands of repair (benefit of sorc dilly, I can repair), but apparently only one wand of cure serious, so I ran out close to the end. Party did give me a few pots, though, and I healed them up with mana before the last mobs.

Then I went in solo to The sacred helm elite, and was joined half way through by a couple of friends (went a lot easier after that, but we did have at least one death). I realized, though, that especially when soloing, Keronna, even though she has dumpted str, in fire stance + bull’s str I get her str to 14 and with the monk strikes she does more damage meleing than with the eternal wands. Eternal wands do damage of about 10, while I saw her punch a 20, and she hits faster than she can use the wands. Wands are still great for bigger foes and bosses, though. Sound burst + unarmed fighting, even when not built for melee, works pretty good at this level.

We then ran Depts elite (me, 2 guildies = wiz and rogue) and I got Ker to lvl 6. At lvl 6 I got her one of my fav hires: Storm (WF fvs), and we ran Irestone Inlet elite. Inlet has a tendency to make u dead, but I was surprised at how well we did, even though we duo’d the first half with hires, me and the rogue. Storm was as good as I remembered him. πŸ™‚ He’s basically a thf melee that can heal, so he does a good job at protecting the casters. In Inlet I had a big problem with getting hit with feeblemind, though. One hit and I couldn’t melee anymore, 2 hits and my backpack got so heavy that I got helpless (unable to do anything but move around).

πŸ™‚ I’m actually pretty pleased with how this toon’s turning out. I am planning to do a feat swap at some point, though, and swap extend for empower. Ker’s still very undergeared, since this is my first toon on this server and I have nothing saved. She’s also pretty poor, so basically she can barely afford one wand of cure serious per a few quests. πŸ™‚ But At lvl 6 she’s at about 107 hp (toughness feat and 2 enhancements) and 350+ sp in water stance, with +25 sp and +2 wis item.

Ty guys for a fun night and see you next time.

TC, Keronna

Mailbox still broken

My myddo mailbox is still broken, so if you want to send me a pm, please send it to mickherexx@gmail.com

Ty very much!

P.S. I have an annoying blue envelope and 3 unread messages that I can’t read. I do love getting messages, though πŸ™‚

Not a HoX virgin anymore!

πŸ™‚ Thazara completed her first Hound of Xoriat (hard) tonight. Woohoo! It was a very good run, even though we did have a mini beholder spawn (I heard that they only spawn if it’s taking too long). I was healing the trash cleaners, we had one death, because I wasn’t fast enough, but I did raise him a sec later. πŸ™‚ Named loot was rolled for and I won this on my first HoX:

Bracelet of Madness
Bracelet of Madness

πŸ™‚ I already have greater arcane lore on my blue dragonscale robe, but the greater evo focus and superior potency is pretty nice. I rolled a 92 πŸ˜€ For once lady luck was shining down on me.

Also, I took Cerge into Orchard and ran Temple of Vol elite twice. πŸ™‚ I was surprised at how well he did. In the first run I had a tr fighter (? or some kind of melee) wait with me for the last party member while the two others stormed off (and ran into trouble – both trs, I believe). But when we finally got going, me and the fighter stuck together, and I’m sure we could have duo’d that quest without hires πŸ™‚ Cerge did a nice amount of damage with his cold spells, and the melee guy helped finish them off. Second run I ran with a barb and an fvs, managed to die once. This was a pretty nice run. Quite fast, like I like it, but we stuck together and took out the foes in one room at a time. Even did the optional πŸ™‚ (I like semi-fast runs, but what I don’t like is when ppl are left behind or someone storms off solo)

All in all a good night, even though I didn’t do much.

Just a short update from Thaz.
Tomorrow Keronna.

Tc and see you around Orien or Cannith.

Loving my clonk

πŸ™‚ As I’ve mentioned before, I made a caster clonk with sorc dilly on the Cannith server, to be able to run with some friends. I love my clonk. πŸ™‚ She’s atm 4/1 cleric/monk. She has 3 eternal wands (Eternal wand of spark of light, Eternal wand of magic missile and Eternal wand of acid splash) that she uses for fighting. She has extended buffs, so her elemental buffs last 8 minutes, but only just over 300 sp with a +25 sp item and water stance, so she’s got just enough sp to buff 2 people (so she mostly buffs herself).

The best thing, though, is that she can block and tumble successfully, and the wands give her great range. This means, that when the party charges into battle, she can stand at a safe distance and spam spells with her wands πŸ™‚

I was very proud yesterday when running with a couple of friends on Cannith with two hires, my cleric and one bard. At one point the others ran into trouble (I was far in the back out of harms way), and they + the bard hire died. The mobs of course started chasing me. I had put the hire on defensive mode, and while I was jumping backwards and tumbling and casting acid splash, I was calling the hire to me for heals. The proud bit was that I managed to take down all the foes chasing me without dying, and managed to get my friends stones to the shrine.

πŸ™‚ Of course, if you haven’t figured it out, later on we all ran into more trouble than we could handle and party almost wiped (luckily there was a shrine close by), I was down to 0 con, and it was all a big mess, but in the end we managed to take out all the nasty casters and be victorious. πŸ™‚ I got really annoyed with my hire in the final battle, though. I put him in a corner on defensive mode and told him to stay. The only way I could get him to stay was to put him on “do not do anything else than what I say”- mode, and that wasn’t what I wanted. I wanted him to stay and heal, not do anything else, but he just kept storming into battle… all the time (so finally I just let him die and be dead).

But yeah, had a good time with some nice people. Ty for that. πŸ™‚

Until the next time…

Love,
Micki/ Keronna.

Gear gear gear

My main, Thazara. I’m very proud of her and she kicks butt imo. But she’s still under geared, and I haven’t picked a gs item yet. I have posted about her gear before, but here I’m listing it once more:

Armor: Blue Dragonscale Robe/ Robe: deathblock, heavy fort
Head: Crystal cove hat (archmagi, concentration+15)/ Minos legends
Neck: Alchemist’s Pendant
Trinket: Greater Cunning Trinket
Cloak: Magewright’s Cloak
Belt: Greater false life
Gloves: Epic Brawling Gloves tier 2
Boots: striding+30%/ feather fall, balance+10
Bracers: Ethereal bracers
Goggles: Time-sensing
Ring1: Wis+6
Ring2: Epic Ring of the Buccaneer tier 2
Shield: Epic Swashbuckler (Light) tier 2
Main hand: Epic Ornamented Dagger tier3/ Epic Brigand’s Cutlass (Scimitar) tier 2

Tomes eaten/ read so far: con+2, cha+2, wis+1. These are the only ones I’ve found. Hoping for some +3 ones.

Thaz is healer/ caster with melee fallback, but as some of you have read she melees quite well in epics with her scimitar and buckler (even though her dps isn’t great, I see nice numbers, and I’ve seen foes stunned by the buckler even in epics). She keeps the dagger in hand when healing and spell casting, and the scimitar when meleing. She needs her con, wis, cha, str and dex items. She uses the time-sensing goggles for haste any time she’s meleing.

Items I would like:
Epic Goggles of Time-Sensing (+2 exceptional wis, 5x haste, colorless and yellow augment slot)
Cannith Boots of Propulsion
Bracers of the Glacier
and perhaps
Skiver

The problem with the skiver is, that I most likely would forget to use the sp on it before switching to one of my superior ardor VI clickies and hence lose the sp (unless I already have the ardor clicke equipped when entering a quest).

I’m up in 6 shroud completions, 2 fails in part 5 and 1 where we only got to part 3. I have yet to decide on a gs blank.

Thank you for reading and see you around Orien or Cannith.

P.S. My myddo mailbox is broken, but if you want to get in touch, you can reach me on: mickiherexx@gmail.com (as Thazara ofOrien). Yeah, I could have added empty spaces in the email to “fool” bots, but you know, bots are pretty smart now-a-days, so it really doesn’t make too much of a difference πŸ™‚ Actually, signing up for stuff probably gives you more junk mail, than posting it online.
