DDO abstinence

Two whole nights of not logging in to DDO at all, and I’m really suffering from abstinence, lol 😀 One night went fine, the second I just kept thinking, I’ll just log on for a while… then decided that no, I have to sleep. I haven’t been sleeping, I’m tired and getting anything done feels hard. I can’t wait to have some time off from… well daily things like work and exercise (I’m really tired)… and to get to sleep in.

Now, back to DDO. I’m dying to try out my new Shroud puzzle skills. It’s gotta be way different using them in game, than practicing online. So, I could log on for about an hour tonight, what should I do? With Thaz I’d like to run, well Shroud, epics, Lord of Stone elite, Reaver’s Reach chain elite, flag for ToD and LoB, etc etc. With Cerge I’m in the middle of solo’ing Tangleroot elite (did the first 4) for Phiarlan favor. Maidae is sorta waiting for a friend of mine, but he might be leveling his toon without me, so I could do some runs with her as well. We were doing necro 3, but since Tomb of the tormented is broken, we can’t flag for the final. Wonder if anyone on level is flagged and could open it? And then we have the baby, Keronna. I’d like to get her to lvl 4, so I could start running catacombs and other fun chains (she’s so squishy, so I don’t want to do lvl 3 elite before she’s at least lvl 4) 🙂

I wonder if I should just do my own lfg for Shroud… but, I still don’t know it that well, so I don’t want to lead. Mmm… Oh, well, I guess I’ll see what’s on the lfg when I do log on, and then decide what to do.

See you ingame. tc.

Learning Shroud puzzles

What, huh? Two posts in a day? No way! 😀 lol. Well, I just spent about 30 mins learning to solve Shroud puzzles, and practicing here: http://terpstra.ca/vale.html. I now believe I know how to solve all of them, and with a bit of in game practice, I’m sure I’ll be able to solve them pretty fast.

Here’s the two forum posts I used (have been posted before, but still valid): HOWTO: Solve the vale puzzle yourself for 3×3, 4×4 and 5×5, and for the circle: Circle puzzle. If you haven’t already, read and try it out? 🙂

Best of luck and happy raiding 😀

Starting over on a new server

I’ve been playing for a while now, on Orien, and I have one capped toon and two lower levels ones who have benefited a lot from the stuff my capped one has gathered over the 9 months I spent leveling her (started as a casual player, going through all quests for max favor). Some months ago I also started putting like 80% of loot up for sale at the auction house and now my toons have a quite stable economy. They are able to pack a good amount of wands, scrolls and potions when running quests, and still have plat left. I currently play a lot, imo, and I have said that I like playing with TR’s and experienced players, because they know what to do, and quests run somewhat smoothly. My toons are also quite strong (imo), and I like playing with others who can handle themselves.

So, I just started over from scratch on Cannith. I have a new toon, 28 p build, no gear and no plat. I made her as caster only, which means she can’t melee to save her life. And as a cleric, she doesn’t have much fire power at lower levels. I did Korthos on a hard strike (‘cept the first quest) with a hire, and a couple of Harbor quests. Then I wanted to do the baudry cartamon chain, and was completely overwhelmed in the first one (I knew it would be hard, on hard, but it was more like impossible). So I did my first lfg (for elite) on Cannith. And I had a blast 🙂 The party was lvl 2-4, most lvl 3 like my toon Keronna, and we were just there to have fun. No xp or loot farming, no one cared if someone died, and it was all very relaxed. Some jokes, some laughs and, oh yeah, some deaths (we ran the shipping warehouse and stealthy repossession as well).

It’s been a long while since I’ve run those quests on an under geared, under leveled toon, with a low level party, and I had completely forgotten how much fun it can be 🙂 I also didn’t play the dedicated healer, like I do any time I run Thazara. Thazara is always heal first, fight second. I do stress when running Thazara, because the quests are hard and a lot of pressure is put on me to keep the party alive. When running the harbor quests on Keronna, I was just one of the team, I wasn’t following the others around to keep them healed. I did throw a few heals, but mostly the party did well without them 🙂 I’ve also gotten used to Thazara always buffing the party at the start of any quest for 200 sp. Now my toon has 220 sp in water stance (clonk, remember), and giving the party extended protection from evil cost me 100 sp. I think I’ll only buff myself from now on, until a few more levels. 🙂 I’m saving sp for heals and using my Eternal Wand of Spark of Light to kill kobolds with.

Tc, and see you around Orien or Cannith.

P.S. I bought a head set a while ago, and I love using voice. But darn, my English isn’t that good anymore 🙂 I’ve always prided my self in being fluent in written and spoken English, but when using voice I make stupid grammar mistakes, that I know are wrong. I do love speaking English, though, and I could very well move to an English speaking country at some point.

P.P.S. No pics, again. I need to get some pics of all my toons and add them to a post

Green Steel?

Alright, so Thaz did the green steel crafting tutorial, and has run a few shrouds now (3 normal completions, 3 hard tries -> 2 wipes + 1 where half of the party decided to just leave in part 3 because it was taking too long). And she has some crafting ingreds that I’ve yet to figure out what to do with. 🙂

So, here’s my questions.

1. Can any feature be added to any item/weapon?
2. How many things can you add to an item? Do I need a separate item for sp, hp, resists, etc?
3. I guess you need to use the altars within the Shroud for the upgrades? (haven’t noticed anyone doing any upgrades during the runs, though, but maybe I just missed it)

I was thinking of making bracers, since I have no good item in that spot yet. Goggles and cloak seem to be common as well, but I like the items I have in those spots.

🙂 Hoping for some replies from some experienced players.

Cya,
Micki

P.S. Tell me, how come lvl 19 quests elite seem to be more difficult than the epics I’ve run? Oh, and I’m loving running epics… just need to get more raids in as well 🙂 But meh to only getting epic fragments instead of whole tokens. Thaz now has 6 epic runs under her belt (Tide turns, bargain of blood, DA, Servants of the Overlord, VON1-2).

Just rolled up a new toon

🙂 I’m pleased to announce that I now have my first toon on Cannith 🙂 I’m very excited about it. And what’s funny, if you check my char list, I have a Cleric (main) , a monk and a sorcerer. My cleric’s an elf, monk’s a helf and sorcerer a warforged. My new toon’s a caster clonk, helf with sorcerer dilettante, which means, I managed to roll up my three other toons into one on Cannith. lol. Name’s Keronna (from RANDOM FEMALE ELF NAME), which means spell keeper.

🙂 I ran the first Korthos quest on normal, then the rest in town on hard with a barb hire. Next I will be going outside of town.
I’m very excited about the sorc dilly, since it means I keep pulling arcane wands and scrolls from chests. As a 100% caster, she’s got dumped dex and str, which means I can’t melee at all. But, with an eternal wand of light, and the spell nimbus of light I managed pretty well so far.

If I’m not on Orien, you’ll find me leveling Keronna on Cannith.
See ya.

What’s this?

Meh, you can’t add videos to your posts 🙂 Here’s something totally random from me.

P.S. I did it again. Just a short short post. I’m becoming pro at this XD

“I like Time. There’s so little and so much of it. “

🙂 Anyone happen to know where the quote’s from? (No, I will not tell until you guess, or google, lol)

My issue is time. I just have too little of it. To make things work, you have to make compromises. Here’s an insight into my daily life and how I spend my time.

First of all, my job. I work about 37.5 h/week, 7.5 h/day (30 min of lunch is required and not included in our work time). We have sliding hours (we can somewhat freely choose when we arrive in the morning and when we leave in the evening, as long as we do the required hours), but must log the hours we do. Second, my exercise. I have a gym membership, I try to cycle to work regularly, I go to swimming practice 2 times a week (have a trainer), I just started running school and am trying to go for a run 3 times a week (got a training program to follow from the running school). Atm, I haven’t been to the gym in at least a month, because there just haven’t been enough time (and I haven’t had the energy either). Third, I have 6 small companion animals (degus) that require my daily attention. They live 3 and 3 in a cage, and I let them out of their cages every day for an hour of play time. Lately I’ve been doing other things during this time, like cooking, having a shower, surfing the web, etc. which I feel a bit bad about, because I should be socializing with them and not doing other things.

Here’s a pic of one of my girls (Stella), if you’ve never seen a degu before:

Forth, DDO 🙂 I love playing DDO. When I’m on, there’s no other thoughts in my mind but what’s going on in the game. I get completely wrapped up in the virtual world, and I love it. It’s like reading fiction, but instead of just following the story, you are able to affect the outcome. 🙂 I believe I play about 10-30 h/week, mostly weekends, but also about 1-2 h on some week nights.

Now, as you can see I have a lot on my schedule, so I have to prioritize. I believe my priorities are a bit like this: 1. degus, 2. work, 3. exercise, 4. DDO. … and somewhere at the bottom are things like sleep, food and cleaning. Yes, here’s my big problem. I don’t sleep. I do household chores when I feel I’ve left them for too long (like something like every other week)… and I have no interest in cooking or socializing. Oh, I completely forgot about socializing 🙂 I do, on occasion go out, or see my friends, but that’s more of an exception than a rule.

And I’m exhausted. And all I want to do is play DDO. What I do, is have planned breaks from it once in a while to sleep and clean and do other things, but during that time I suffer from abstinence. 🙂 I believe I have a problem.

Take care and see you around Orien (or if I ever get around to it, on Cannith as well).
Love, Micki

P.S. I’m doing my first Sprint triathlon on July 1, and I’m hoping to do my first Marathon in September. I have also signed up for Tour de Helsinki (140 km cycling) in September.

P.P.S. I’ve been planning to do/take the SCJP certificate, but I have yet to read the book. I did read the SCJA book, but then skipped doing the test and decided to just go for the next one instead. (just google if you don’t know what it is, lol)

P.P.P.S I’ve been studying Spanish for a few years now, and the last course ended in April (will hopefully continue this fall), and I should be studying, but I have no interest in it.

Photo shoot

In my last post I said I was going to post some pics of Thazara. Here’s a photo shoot of Thazara in Meridia:

And the last one’s a link to the full size:

Shard of Xoriat

🙂 Thazara ran Sane Asylum and Lord of Stone yesterday (elite with a party of course, like always), and lag was driving me nuts (on my end, kept getting stuck and thrown 2 steps back for every 1 forward. Lag was only on my side, because I could see everyone and everything else moving, but I wasn’t*). I was even swimming in lava at least 3 times because lag threw me back into it when I was trying to jump over it. But, I got a new nice trinket from Sane Asylum (that I’ve been wanting):

Take care and see you around Orien.

P.S. Woop woop. I made a short post. 😀 Next up, pics of Thaz (I got some very nice night sky, moonlight pictures of Thaz in Meridia)

* I checked my network speed on speedtest.net and my download speed was around 7M, but upload only 1M. When upload is 1 or less, I know I’m going to have a problem. For download 3 or more is good. 7+ is excellent. I have a 3G max 15M dongle connected to a WNAP (3G) N-series (300M) WLAN AP/router and a multimedia hp laptop with an integrated WLAN card. 2.30 GHz dual core processor, 4GB ram (I need to upgrade to 8), ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 graphics card and 500GB hard drive 🙂 Oh, and 17′ HD (resolution 1600×900) screen.

Thazara vs Cholthulzz

I’ve been planning for farm Litany for a while, so yesterday I decided to give it a go. I ran the Litany bosses for flagging when Thaz was lvl 17, and she kept dying in the sonic trap 🙂 This time I went in solo (with a cleric hire so I could be raised if I were to die in the sonic trap), and the main part of the quest didn’t post a challenge at all 🙂 Thaz is just awesome. Aura, bursts and implosion, and banishment for mephits (mephits go down!), blade barrier and then just meleing the rest (divine favor, divine power and my new lovely scimitar and mobs go down!). So, I finished the main part with more than half of my sp left and decided to go for the hardest boss right away, Cholthulzz.

Cholthuzz ddowiki

Why is he the hardest? Well because he is a f-ing tough beholder, and I’m a caster 🙂 The path to Cholthuzz was longer than I remembered, but it went fine and in we go. And what happens? (Check out the screenshot below)

Litany Cholthuzz

Cholthuzz starts hitting me with energy drain. I look at my hp bar and see it getting smaller and smaller. I run and try to hide while I try to throw a few dp’s at him, but when I’m down to under 100 hp I dive into the water. I’m not even wearing underwater action (as far as I know), but I see no breath bar, so I just dive and try to hide. It doesn’t help. I’m down to less than 10 hp and am waiting to die, when suddenly a heal hits me. My lovely hire saved me in the nick of time. I swim to surface, get out a greater restoration scroll and heal up, only to get hit by energy drain again and again. I throw maybe 2 dp’s and then I just say to myself f* it, and run over to Cholthuzz to start meleing. I have no idea if I’m hitting him at all, but he’s moving about and I keep falling off the platform 🙂 At some point my hire dies and I’m out of bursts. And soon after I flatline. 🙂 I’m shaking like crazy, and I get a tell, “hey, you interested in a normal shroud?” 🙂 lol. I’m lying there dead, shaking from fear and excitement, and I get an invite to run shroud lol. Yeah, sure, just gimme a sec. 😀

Take care and see you around Orien.
